It was similar with Parker and a lot of New Zealanderss as well for a while there. And it happens with a lot of Kiwis who do well overseas if they aren't humble enough, its like New Zealanders are just waiting for them to act a bit arrogant so they can jump down their throats, think Israel Adesanya vs Steven Adams. You can be sure though, that Hrgovic wins and keeps winning a lot of those people will turn around and support him, especially if he becomes champ.
Yeah he is, New Zealand has pretty bad tall poppy syndrome though. So if a New Zealander is going to be successful they have to be excessively humble or they will get hate from their countrymen. Also Parker lost fans when the drug stuff came out, he went from being a positive role model to just another stereotype Islander from South Auckland.
