People are criticising the fact Crolla may get a shot at Burns. Just look at the facts here. He is a more credible opponent than Evensen, Laryea and Nicky Cook. Billy you tried to defend those fights.

People should be getting behind a young, hungry ENGLISH fighter in Crolla. A nice guy, a model pro who lives the life and has a dream of becoming world champion. They would have given Rees the shot so why not Crolla who convincingly beat Rees

I think Billy is worried  alot of threads about Crolla and Joe....WHY? No1 ever kicks a dead dog, if they didn't bother you, you wouldn't comment. You are world champions :hey

I don't recall ever creating threads about Mitchell etc

We are coming Billy. Manchester on tour :bbb

I think it's a difficult one to judge. Crolla is a nice guy, model pro etc but that doesn't make him and more deserving than anyone else. I haven't watched the fight back yet from Saturday but when I was there I gave it to Rees, however my opinion may change if I see it again. Nicki cook was a world champ as was Rees so I don't know whether crolla is as worthy as you think he couldn't even get past Derry. On the other hand he seems to be improving and I'd say if he beats a couple more descent opponents then burns wouldn't be out of the question

You're right, relatively speaking Crolla is at least as credible as some previous defences, but that says more about Burns' challenges so far than Crolla's ability.

I like Crolla, I think he won by a couple of rounds on Saturday, but he isn't ranked in the top 15 by the WBO and nor was Rees, so all the talk of that being an 'eliminator' on Saturday was a bit much.

I'd like to see Crolla beat someone like Murray or Mitchell before he can justifiably get a title shot. Those fights would sell well enough, so he'd earn some money too.

rees was ranked highly all over the place rightly or wrongly and saturday was for some inter belt so thats his ranking sorted

think the outcry is they thought they were beyond all these domestic fights now moving on to bigger and better things. but its just guna be more of the same on a different channel this has upset the hearn fan boys who feel conned so will kick up a stink over crolla

gallaghers got billy rattled and they dont fancy the job haha

    Nail on the head :happy

People should get behind Crolla. People can say he doesn't deserve it blah blah blah, Burns didn't deserve a shot at Martinez either but everyone needs a break in life.

He got his shot after beating Youssef al hamidi haha, Crolla should he get his shot will be coming off a Gavin Rees victory. Look at the difference.............

I don't think Burns and is team are avoiding people, maybe they're not going out of their way to make unification fights happen but I would say all the talk of Crolla is coming from Matchroom/Sky.

The Gonzalez fight obviously worried them, they want to protect their investment and put Burns in with Crolla and Beltran before a risky unification fight to accumulate some more money and buy some more time before putting Burns in with the other champions.

Crolla makes money and sells tickets for Sky and also generates interest as a domestic match up for the casual. Crolla doesn't really deserve it in all honesty but you could say this about many many many people that get title shots these days, he wouldn't be the worst opponent in a world title match up that's for sure.

What about what Burns deserves ?

If this fight goes ahead then Burns's career is being held back to accommodate a domestic level fighter his chance at winning a world title.

I like Crolla , he seems like a decent lad and good luck to him but i doubt Burns was hoping he would be fighting Crolla in the near future.

At some point .. Burns is going to get the feeling hes being totally messed about again by a promoter.

If Burns doesn't want to fight Crolla then he simply refuses to do so, no one can force him to fight him but more often than not boxers are talked into things for financial reasoning or promised "if you fight X we'll get you Y next" and so it wouldn't be a surprise if the fight happens.

Just read something from Scott Gilfoid who scored it 10-2 in Rees favour hahahaha! funniest thing i've ever read. What a total and utter moron. Crolla easily won the fight, was in control all the way through. How anyone scored that a Rees win is beyond me.

theres a lot to be said for crolla fighting burns for matchroom and sky - crolla is known to sky viewers now he has been in 2 of the better fights on the channel this year, is english, seems a personable down to earth clean cut lad, his support creates an atmosphere and is a ticket seller.

all these things add up to better viewing figures and ticket sales for a burns fight rather a foreign fighter who no casual as ever heard of and probably costs more to bring over with all the extra risks that involves.

unless its a real big name its probably not worth the hassle for matchroom and sky . mite not be in the best interests of burns but it is for the bean counters.

I dont think the issue is anything to do with getting behind Crolla and his lifestlye work ethic etc. I'd love for Crolla to become a world champion but I dont think he will make it.

The names you have mentioned most fans werent happy with either, Burns really needs to move onwards and upwards...hopefully that will happen soon!

Crolla has lost and drawn with Derry Matthews, lost to Gary Sykes twice, and was even outpointed by Al Hamidi.

Yes he has possibly improved since then but he isn't even ranked highly with WBO and on current form doesn't deserve a shot at any world title. Regardless of if he is a good character and an all round nice guy he will be getting the shot because it suits Matchroom and Sky and not because he is a legit contender.

If he is sandwiched between Beltran and a unification fight then it is acceptable to me, lets not forget Broner recently fought Gavin Rees and even Morales was talking of a come back fight against Crolla a year or so ago. It's not the worst fight ever but it is a terrible fight if you were expecting it to be Vazquez or Abril or Broner comparatively.

Also eversan has boxed at a higher level than Coralla since he got beat by Ricky so no Corolla isn't more worthy of a shot than Evansan Sorry
