crolla v simpson...?

I feel sorry for Simpson. He'd be a real handful if he had the same notice as everyone else and a full 12 week camp to prepare. As such he seems to be Matchroom's safety net.

And the guy has bills to pay so he'll never turn anything down.

He had about 3 weeks notice to fight Coyle.

 

I actually feel quite deflated that John Simpson appears to be now be considered at best as a "gate keeper" and at worst as Matchroom's "show saver".

IMO he should still be considered a contender, for domestic honours at least.

If Simmons vs Camacho had not been cancelled I can't see this fight having been made.

As there had been no obvious replacement chief supporting contest they had to promote Crolla and unfortunately Simpson was the only viable match.

Of course Simpson will fight anyone but he's not a light weight, even if he'd had a 12 week camp.

Good luck to John and he's such a warrior you never know - I'd love him to win.

But I don't think Fast Eddie would.
Obviously Crolla is being lined up as a voluntary defence for Burns, if Burns beats Crawford.

Great thread on boxrec about this fight lmao its a great read. Imo crolla wins on points. Hoped simmo wud hav moved back down to feather or sf. But guessing his getting a good payday for this fight so can't blame him.

I think it's more they don't want to work his way back up? Would get better money fighting Crolla.. Hearn has clearly no interest in him.. It's a shame good lad and a waste of a talent in my eyes

 

Actually looking forward to this fight Crolla will probably have too much and be too fresh for John but John is always game and will be there right until the end and won't make ot an easy night for Anthony.

 

Boxing is his job why would he want another?

I'm sure he doesn't feel sorry for himself but a few of us do as we feel he is better than what he gets landed with.

Simpson has been in training for this bill for the last 7 weeks. Hes had the same notice crolla has had. Crolla never knew he was fighting simpson until saturday. I got the news off billy nelson before crolla even got it. Team simpson wanted this fight.
