Its ON!! Big fight for Manchester, can't wait! Who wins? I personally think it will be a war and will be very close on points. Crolla Split Decision is my prediction
I was Suprised. By how cleanly Simpson was hitting John Saturday and if a lightweight were to do the same there would be a diffrent response. It has the makings of a good fight and would defo decide who the third best LW in the country is behind Burns and Mitchell
What's wrong with that? Burns needs an easier fight than his last few before he should challenge for a world title again and either or gives him that.
Billy spent months telling us all how Burns was far too good for the domestic scene. Talked down to anyone and everyone who dared mention it.
No mate, Ricky needs another title fight asap. Hearns talking about Ricky needs to fight at domestic level next, but he's talking about getting Mitchell a world title fight :huh Basically Hearns thinks Mitchell is good enough for a world title fight, but Ricky isn't... Ricky pummeled Mitchell in 4 rounds and has had 10 world title defences back to back, so he should be getting first pick to any of the champions not the winner of Crolla-Murray. Ricky needs to move forwards not backwards.
I disagree. I think Ricky needs a break, and by that I mean an easier fight. He's been through the mill this past year. A fight against either i think he'd win at ease and then allows him to step back up to world level refreshed. In a way I think this loss is a blessing for Ricky (and Billy) as bad as that sounds. I think it only now finally draws a line under the whole Beltran saga. They both can get back on with boxing without hopefully hearing about Beltran again.
Ricky has been awful in his last three fights. He needs to step down in class and rebuild. A domestic fight at this stage would be perfect for him. Reality is he isn't beating any of the current champs based on his last few fights.
I agree Burns needs a break, but he does not need to drop down to domestic level. Ricky should be straight in again in a title fight because he has earned it. What you need to remember is Burns has been World champion at two weight classes where he's had 10 world title fights in over 3 years, these type of fighters don't get relegated to domestic level. Burns has serious earning potential with his fan base behind him and dropping down two levels for a domestic fight could be career suicide and simply not good enough IMO.
I know what you are saying and agree to a certain extent. Ricky does deserve to be in a world level but on this occasion I don't see it as a bad idea because: A - he'd beat both guys easily B - he'd still get a decent crowd and an easy payday C - builds his confidence again D - back in for a title challenge afterwards I don't see it as taking 2 steps back, more like having a half day holiday
No I disagree. If Ricky beats these guys easily what's the point of the match in the first place? There's nothing to gain for Ricky in this fight. In fact it could work against him in lack of motivation. Ricky has had 10 world title fights, he doesn't need confidence. Burns should get another title shot and stay at World level. If he had to lose that then he should think about dropping down in levels, but no way does he drop down now.
