Cross Arm Defense

    Just wondering if anyone still uses this when they box?
    also what are the advantages and disadvanteges to it?

    The disadvantage is that you get hit a ton and your opponent scores a lot of points. In my opinion, it's not ideal for the amateurs.

    so it's better suited for professional boxing then?
    just wondering since i've only seen a couple of people use this
    type of defense (joe frazier, archie moore)
    how about the advantages to it?

    Hopefully someone else can shed some light on the advantages. I really can't think of any.

    Cotto uses it lol, Floyd uses a one arm cross guard. I think Floyds one arm cross guard is a good defense for countering.

    Nothing new about the cross-arm defence - Foreman used it when he came back.

    A variation of the cross-arm is the Philly Shell, as used by Ken Norton, Toney, Mayweather and many others.

    Can't be all bad.

    it can guard the head
    not advisable as it leaves u counterless
    and open 2 the body
