Just wondering what you guys think about using crossfit in your workout routine. I love it. At the end of a lot of the workouts it really feels like your body has been in a fight. Other then sparring I believe crossfit can potentially be the best type of training to use for boxing.
It depends what you're doing, some of the things they do in Crossfit is plain dangerous. For example difficult high rep olympic lifts and deadlifts etc are asking for an injury. The majority of the workouts I like. The main thing I hate about Crossfit, though, are the people, bunch of self righteous pricks. "Crossfit is a way of life man. If I didn't have Crossfit I'd be in a bad place" or "If you're not doing Crossfit, you're doing it wrong" or "Crossfit is taking over dude!!! YEAH!! WOOOO!!!" is all I hear from the wankers.
I knew a girl who was fit and looked good before she started crossfit. Now she's fit and looks good, but she's constantly banging on about injuries she's picked up and how she's not training hard enough or her body fat percentage isn't low enough our she's not fit enough. It's difficult to hold a conversation with her now
I been doing crossfit for 3 months and I am in the best shape of my life. I can spar for 10 rounds, run longer distances then I ever have before. It works wonders.
This is very true. Being a former power lifter myself I know my limitations when doing the olympic lifts. I think that crossfit is a very dangerous workout program, but its really not that difficult when you space it out from other workouts. For example, run in the morning, crossfit at lunch, boxing training in the evening. Also I don't make any friends with the other crossfitters. They were them weird toe shoes that are ****ing gay as hell, but I noticed its mostly the civilian crossfitters which get all yuppie like calling it a way of life. I became involved in crossfit when I started working with the US Army rangers and since then I am seriously in the best shape of my life.
I do want them, just wondering anyone else's experience with crossfit. Just because I disagree with an opinion doesn't mean I don't want to hear it. Not much room for personal improvement if all you think is that your opinion is the only right one.
To be part of a culture? :nut I Would think most people join because they want to become fit or they like the particulary sport.
Don't see how crossfit being a 'way of life' is any different from boxing being a way of life...that said they are a slightly wacky lot. I reckon it's a pretty good choice for the 'general fitness' part of a boxing training program, but not entirely convinced about the way they race through such tricky exercises. Seems to be a 'sport' in itself..
It's ****ing Godly imho. I'm going to kill my previous pr's at marathons thanks in large part to the training.
