I was at the weigh in too and the welsh were walking round getting autographs so unsure what they did wrong??
I was also at the fight and sat in upper Block 7, the block where it all kicked off and i can 100% say that the Brum stormed the block. they were goading for ages and 1 or 2 people down the front obviously took exception and the brum came over. Anti welsh songs were sung from the Clev fight onwards. It all happend whilst Enzo was on the floor i think and there were women and kids in the block. some people have said there were no women or kids but since i traveled up on a coach with them, i can 100% say they were there and the Brum fans didn't give a f*ck. We then had to leave to get them out and missed the Maklin, Gavin and Broadhurst fights. Shocking.
The mentality of these people amaze me. They couldn't fight the tide in the bath, yet when they are in a group or at some kind of event which involves fighting they go into "He-Man" mode with everyone around them. Do your fighting in the gym or the ring, not in a ****ing events arena with random strangers whilst in front of familys etc.
Actually... Anyway, I was in Block 9 so didn't really see what was going on, obviously saw a couple fights, but just thought 'meh' and watched Enzo get KO'd. It could have been a lot worse. The Welsh get a lot of stick for their football supporters being twats, but I think the ones at the boxing were genuinely there to watch the boxing, and not to fight. I saw a load of them down in the food place and they were alright. The zulus were disgraceful though, and I bet none of them knew anything about boxing.
I'm just starting to get fed up with it. It will take a hell of a lot to convince me I should go watch a card at a football stadium again (unless of course its at the bridge)!!!
It was my first time travelling over for a fight and i'd doubt i'd go again. The atmosphere for the Macklin fight was **** after the trouble, hundreds of people left the arena because it looked like they would kick off again on someone else. The Welsh lads were singing their Cleverly songs and then sang 'Wales' and then the section of Birmingham lads started singing back 'England' and that's when i knew something would happen. When it did kickoff it was pretty violent stuff and i saw a few of the security getting jumped on as well, in fairness there was one beautiful K.O punch on the lad in the green shirt. When they got the Welsh lads out the Birmingham lads were singing their songs which had nothing to do with boxing and there were loads of lads moving down by us to get away from them. We left as soon as the Macklin fight ended as i thought it could start up again outside and i had my Missus with me. I know i was being a bit paranoid but i didn't feel the safest in having an Irish accent when there's loads of drunk English lads looking for a fight. I enjoyed the night up until then but i just can't be arsed in going to events like that in future if it's ending up like that. I'd agree with the earlier post where i think the LG arena did theirbest with the searching on the way in and the fact you couldn't bring your drink into see the fights but there's nothing you can really do when there's a crowd of lads just looking to start up some trouble.
Stop reading the Sun. There is far more trouble at PL games than any of ours. Anything with a hint of trouble is a bubble trip.
That Gimenez must of thought we were all ****in nuts over here:nut First he comes over to fight Eubank at the G-Mex and it kicks off big time Fosters Salford lot and the scousers there for Paul Wright. Then he fights Benn at the NEC and there's the mother of all kick offs between Fosters lot and McCrackens fans. When Warren offered him the fight against Calzaghe he took it on the condition there'd be no Mancs or Brummies on the bill.... He'd obviously not been told about the Cardiff City boysatsch
in vegas u can sit in ur seat watching the boxing with a beer and a hotdog. its nobs like the brum fans and some of the welsh which ruin it for every1 else
As i said gents, i was there and the block got rushed by the Brum fans. it wasn't pleasent and as a result all the Clev fans (including plenty of women and kids) left and went to the buses early meaning we missed Macklin, Gavin and Braodhurst. Its funny really becase someone said that the anti welsh songs was 'banter'. easy to claim that really but all it takes is one person to be offended and it all kicks off. Shocking really that adults behaved like that and somehow manged to allow Football violence ruin a boxing show.
That brummie lot are right ****s, im sure it was down their that the scottish fans were attacked after kevin anderson knocked out young mutley, they went steaming rite into them, was full of men women and children down from fife to cheer on their local boy.
Yes, it's going to put a lot of people off going. What savages we are when we can't even take our drinks to our seats. Facking hell.
