Glen McCory was starved out off the 13.8 divsion and was subsequently blasted out by Lennox Lewis at heavy. If the 200lb limit existed back then his record may well have been different.

Herbie Hide has only just joined the division as an old man and may get his prize. With his power he could have been awsome, but instead he put on a great show against Bowe before the size difference took over.

Going back over the last 10-20 years how many would have won a cruiser belt if the weight was higher back then?

chris byrd woulda been great. he had a good career as a heavyweight too having a belt but cruiser woulda suited him better for sure boxingwise. wouldnt have made the same cash though.

i dunno about byrd. byrd fougth a middlewieght game plan in a heavyweigth world no one could really catch him with out blowing. also a big body puncher.against more fit, more smaller and similar sized fighters byrds advantages of speed and agility disappears. but i agree at this stage in his career he should at least try it....he is still pretty light and skinny from the recent photos of him so he is still looking to continue, maybe a cruiserwieght venture.

holyfield might be at cruiser for a while longer. but that was kinda due for him wanting the prestige of the heavyweight crown.

in all escence it's not the wieght of cruiserwieght that makes champs and contenders go to heavyweight. but the money, prestige and exposure of the 200+

i feel going back to the 190 cruiserweight division is a good idea.

Out of interest, are you aware of any particular fights that may have resulted in the cruiser limit moving in the first place?
