Yes and speaking of Cruisers, Mike Perez is out on July 10 in Dubai against Tony Salam in an 8 rounder. Could Perez still be a player in the division despite all of his inactivity?
Dunno. Perez: depends form opponent and his shape. Due really had huge punch even for his weight at HW, might gradually damage opponent etc. Strong lad for CW or bridger weight boxers.
He could still be in the top ten, howerver it's unlikely he will beat the champions. Wouldn't be surprised to see Perez land himself a Okolie fight since he is established in the UK.
Do you think eddie will gave Okolie to Perez? Perez does hit harder than Briedis imo while is not that skilled overall and he already had proven that he is capable to disable guy permanently.
If about 1-2 punches power and KO potential I agree that no and he ( exactly he not Briedis despite biased comments ) clinched to avoid box game in longer range vs Briedis for sure. The problem is that Perez had HW fight where guy continued all distance and after this had appeared disabled. You may google this, I maybe will link to some US articles. Perez might be very damaging if he will land high number of punches.
He really has wasted his career post Usyk. He should be much further along at HW than what he currently is.
The funny part is that over on the other boxing site, they literally took an article that was written when he was targeting a march return and reprinted it word for word, changing only the month and season. I really hope Gassiev gets it together, but I sense his career going nowhere fast. The good news is that he is still only 27, and if he got healthy, grew into his frame, and learned a few new tricks, then more power to him. But, yeah, let's get 'er going.
