Easy to say when you ain't in there bro, being outweighed by 94 pounds by a very good athlete in a ring as small as it was would be a difficult task for most whether they are a "Real boxer" Or not.
Schwarz definitely served a short sentence for domestic violence and I think it was shortly after his wipeout at the hands of Tyson Fury. I'm pretty sure Wallisch's problems happened around 2016/2017, but I can't find the specific details. I believe that those legal problems were behind him by the time he faced Hammer, got stopped, and lost his 0 in 2018.
Looks like Goularmirian put the time off to better use, because he has captured a UD win over Egorov by way of 117-111, 116-112, and 116-112 scores.
Sean Bey moved to 8-0 (7 KOs) with a card-sweeping UD victory over Terrell Jamal Woods (who drops to 28-56-9, 20KOs) during last nights 4 round bout on the CES Boxing Card at the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln, RI. I had a good friend in attendance and he said that Bey landed quite a lot of heavy-looking shots on Woods throughout and the latter took them well. Woods was kind of getting back into it in the 4th round, but he ran out of time before making a real impression. As I said, Woods has a long fuse and he's better in six round fights. My friend thought the 40-36 x3 scoring was reasonable. So a passing mark for Bey - but not enough to really vault him to the head of the class. As I said, there are a couple of heavyweights also working with CES boxing (Joe Cusumano and Cassius Chaney) with just enough name recognition to be worth a callout by Bey. And I suppose he could always get a ShoBox nod to face somebody like Jeremiah Milton. Bey was at 218 1/2 lbs for his August fight - so bridgerweight (which isn't exactly overflowing with talent) could also drop something in his lap.
He still has a chance. 35 isn't too old at cruiserweight and the cruiserweight division is a shadow of its former self compared to a half-dozen years ago. There's Opetaia, Lawrence Okolie, an aging Briedis, a few "hopefuls" (mostly Polish boxers who have been hopefuls for years!). Plus he's based himself in Western Europe - so there are no added complications for getting his fights made. He's a longshot - but he seems like a good candidate for a voluntary defense.
I've learned that Bruzon actually dropped Evans in the 2nd round and hurt him again right before the bell. Then Evans simply took control in the third. Evans had another fight on November 18th against a nobody (maybe his management got a bit cautious after the scare with Bruzon). Still awaiting the result.
Here's a blast from the past coming back, on the same card as Eddie Chambers comeback Louis Facelifter Monaco returns at the age of 54 to take on Iegor Plevako (7-0 4 KOs). Monaco at one time beat Peter McNeely, Michael Dokes, Kevin McBride and ran an older Trevor Berbick pretty close before settling in as a journeyman losing to Vitality Klitchko, Monte Barrett, Buster Douglas, Kirk Johnson and even Chambers to name a few.
Wow. I remember the Facelifter. 54 is just too darned old - especially a fighter who has been inactive for more than 8 years. His opponent doesn't look like an A-list prospect - but there's no way they should have licensed this fight.
Brian Howard (15-5-0, 12 KOs) is scheduled to fight Junior Wright (19-4-1, 16 KOs) in Philadelphia on February 25th. No word on the weight class of the fight. Both fighters have cruiserweight backgrounds, but recently switched to heavyweight. My guess is that the contest will be at cruiserweight given Wright's declaration that he intends to returnt to that weight (see video clip below). Howard will be just a few months shy of his 43rd birthday at the time of the fight. And he's been stopped a few times - most recently by Ajagba with devastating effect. He should have called it quits a couple years ago. After failing a couple tries at making the top-tier of the cruiserweight division 5, 6, 7 years ago - Wright appeared as a heavyweight (260 lbs) on last December's Triller fight club card - only to be stopped by journeyman Joe Jones (who fights heavyweight, cruiserweight - and even light heavyweight). He did better in early October in a Philadelphia fight when he stopped club fighter Colby Madison in the 3rd round. With Wright now calling Philadelphia home, he's probably the A-sider here. He's six years younger than Howard so you get the feeling he will take over if he can avoid Howar'ds heavier stuff in the first 3-4 rounds (far from a guarantee, though). With this fight being announced more than 3 months in advance, I suspect the winner - if the fight takes place at cruiserweight - will get a ranking from it. Not that I feel any happier about that than you do. Here's Junior Wright after the Colby Madison fight. He admits that heavyweight is a step too far for him:
Joyce Usyk Joshua. That would be a great slate of fights. As the boxing landscape now stands, I'll be shocked if its not Charr and Wilder IV
I noticed hes named February as the date knowing both, as well as himself won't be fighting at that date.
