Lol, clickbait title. He didn't say Usyk was having setbacks, only that it happens in boxing when sparring. Also, interviewer is behind the times as Usyk has walked back the "two fights" comment.
Not boxing, but are any of you watching Glory 100? Four 4man heavyweight tournaments plus Heavyweight title fight between Verhoevan and Vakhitov. Some great scraps.
This is a pretty well matched and actually meaningful fight, but two low profile HWs with much potential, that I guess would never have been made without the Riyadh Season people calling the shots. I like the way this has just come up in place - without any mini negotiations sagas, and it's fairly certain to go ahead. The backing for it is also building up some future opponents for to top 10, with an eye on longer term payoffs, than immediate pay offs. Possibility of throwing Dychko, Jalolov, Gurgen, and even Kossobutskiy and M. Gadz into the mix, + the HW Grand prix finalist maybe, is perhaps there, as an alternative to another set of repetitive trilogies and rematches between the same established western players.
I don't know. Novytskyi didn't much impress when he got his big chance, and I'd say that they were cashing out his 0, except that Sirenko has been around for eight years minus a break and has not exactly lit the world on fire. I hope the winner actually understands that this is the best chance they are going to get and they can't afford to waste it. Dychko, Jalalov and Gugen have fights scheduled, so I doubt they will make an appearance. I am waiting on Gadhzi's next fight, but he only seems to fight IBA, which, for some reason, the WBA recognizes when he does.
I'm thinking more 2026. On Novytskyi and Sirenko ... I think you're right that Novytskyi didn't impress but from memory I think he was overly cautious, and pragmatic, which might be a good thing against Sirenko. Dychko, Jalolov and Gurgen are coming back on line, but they're going to have to make some kind of move creating profiles at some point, hopefully sooner than later, and I think that the kind of R.S. matchmaking might be the only path for this to come together quickly. I'm already kind of fed up with them, but I (and others) might be drawn back in with some ongiong activity. I'm actually kind of OK with Skylar Lacey. I've watched a few of his fights. The Brandon Moore one was just kind of weird, but the draws against Arias and Mireles were better. It's kind of weird Dychko taking on someone (again) that he doesn't have much height advantage to work with. ... and we've just seen Vrykhryst make a statement of intent with a glorious win over Lovejoy ... so I guess things are starting to happen a bit, sort of.
They don't make Doodle Heavyweights like they used to. What's wrong with them? Population of 340 million & that's the best they can turn out. Hopeless stuff from the American. Woeful.
