Svetoslav Teterin successfully made his debut, although at the time of this writing the fight is not being recognized by Boxrec yet. David Surov appears to be the better prospect, as Teterin is a bit small (don't look 6'3" to me), and a sucker for a jab, and any right that follows. This content is protected
Teterin showed a good jab, good footwork, and increased the pace and finished it nicely. But I agree he definitely needs to work on defence, and he looks about 6ft or 6ft 1. He was getting caught too much for a pro debut. Although his Uzbek opponent is decent, far tougher than most most fighters' debut opponent. I think Oleg Zangiev 7-0 (7) is the 2nd best Russian HW prospect after Surov. Here was his latest fight from a few weeks ago This content is protected
Later on I will add him to my Russian heavyweight prospect thread. I missed him because I don't see an amateur background. It seems to me that with the IBA support, Russia is making a concerted effort at a heavyweight championship.
on Strefa Boxing if you use the Russian spelling of his name Олег Зангиев. There's a few results there, including Runners up in the Russian Youth National Championships in 2021. Yeah it'll be interesting with Surov, Dronov, Zangiev, Teterin, Manzhuev etc all coming up at the same time.
Al Siesta says Gassiev targeting a date in late June or early July. The winner of Wardley-Dubois is preferred, and Moses Itauma is also highly desired. Other potential opponents include, but are not limited to,, Michael Hunter, Zhilei Zhang, Filip Hrgovic or Jarell Miller.
Not sure what to make out of this. What is the point? Maybe like a reverse Fury deal that Hearn did with Arum? Anderson also seems like a bit of a basket case, has been out over a year, and wants to retire this year (allegedly)
Why not? Itauma is completely untested and Anderson has speed and power. A win skyrockets him up the rankings. I would see it as his best option.
Gassiev would be a decent test for Itauma. Unlike Franklin, Gassiev actually has some offensive tools and power.
I'm not sure - could just end up being Jared Anderson against David Adeleye. Whom I think Anderson would probably beat. I can't see Anderson taking such risks to fight someone seemingly dangerous right now such as Itauma as Anderson has been exposed already. And yes, his commitment to boxing seems pretty questionable considering his inactivity and flirting with the idea of retirement.
Honestly, I could see AJ dispatching Whyte pretty early here if the fight happens. AJ is excellent offensively, and even a Whyte that trained hard for Itauma probably has declined overall especially his punch resistance. AJ will always be a terrible match-up for Whyte, as we've seen already.
I'm not sold on Itauma but I'd be pretty shocked if Anderson agrees to fight Itauma. Anderson has already displayed a lack of interest in boxing due to his inactivity and already talking about retirement.
