Maybe to the ratings committee, but in all reality it's two barely top 50 guys. Leapi became mado by beating Denis Boytsov who was an unproven top 30 guy at best, and coddled into the elimination fight.(sound familiar?) Scott I though had potential, but he outright quit against Wilder. The reality is Charlie Z. took more abuse from Wilder, and I use that as my main evidence that Scott (a durable sparring partner to the stars) just quit, and likely could have went many rounds in that fight if his heart was really in it.
Most people had Boystov in their top 10 and had for years (although amazingly unproven). He was sort of like Kell Brook was for many years; chilling in the top 10 without ever really fighting a top 10 opponent.
Young Fury will fight again tomorrow against a journeymen from Lithuania. Wonder if his 'losing streak' will come to an end.
That's not really pro though, is it? I mean, its an alternative pro league, but we are never going to see him fight Pulev or Joshua for the title (I assume Wlad will be retired by that time). Unless the two pro leagues can accept each other and make some crossover fights, this thing is going to kill heavyweight boxing.
No.But it's a bridge between amateurs and pro ranks. It's like semi pro. After this they can turn pro more easily. And promoters will be more interested.
