Quick update. Eddie Hearn's first offer was rejected by Browne's promoter Ricky Hatton as being too low. Hearn has just come back with an improved offer. So still in negotiations. Also some rumours for Whyte vs Helenius instead.
Joshua is currently sparring Helenius, so Eddie will be buttering him up, would much rather see Whyte-Browne though it would be a tear up.
I'd rather see Whyte-Browne too. As I understand it Helenius is the back-up option if Browne/Hatton rejects the 2nd offer.
Decent card. Hearn's new deal with SkY means less money for fights, he has more than 3 years left on his new deal, so don't expect huge fights for his 2 tier heavyweights. Browne/Whyte can happen because Browne doesn't have huge demands. Hearn's whole stable except Joshua will be screwed when this deal ends.SKY has a new owner, Rupert Murdoch, he is the man who built SKY, so that means even less money for making fights because SKY subscriber numbers are falling fast and they will keep falling even further.
New update: the 2nd offer has been declined by Browne's team. They said the money improved quite a bit but it wasn't worth the risk at short notice.
real shame browne is getting up there in age he should of took the chance hes got a short window to ever get a big fight.
Have you noticed boxrec are slow with the Updates and schedules regarding Russian boxing/ boxers recently Vlasov's win last week still isn't up on his page for example.
I think longer than expected, 7-8 rounds. Duhaupas still having uncomfortable flashbacks of another Russian he recently fought.
