"To clarify the Luis Ortiz situation, this is the real and only version of the current process. Mr. Sulaiman and the WBC have NOT suspended or removed Luis from their rankings. The WBC's decision was as follows, they did not sanction the fight based off the fact that they are worried for Luis's health. And to be honest, I must respect and admire their decision because I agree, the fighter's health is paramount. So, the WBC will schedule a visit with one of their approved physicians to check Luis health, and make sure he is 100% healthy and fit to fight, and that the blood pressure pills will not affect him physically." "Once Luis has passed all physical exams and is medically cleared to fight by the WBC, we will begin to work on a possible fight towards the end of the year. Also, once all is resolved, we hope that we can reschedule the Wilder fight in the first quarter of next year. Wilder has shown much interest in fighting Ortiz, and the best fighters in the division, so I know it will not be a hard fight to renegotiate. Thank you to everyone for your support. This soon will be corrected, and Luis can continue on with his career." ~ Jay Jimenez, Manager of Luis Ortiz Source:boxing-scene.com
New London, Connecticut-based heavyweight sensation Cassius Chaney (11-0, 5 KOs) overcame adversity for the first time in his young career. He got up from a first round knockdown against Jon Bolden (8-12-1, 6 KOs) of Brooklyn, New York to go the distance and secure a come-from-behind unanimous decision victory. At the end of this action-packed brawl, which left Cassius with a cut over his left eye, all three judges scored the bout 56-55 in favor Chaney. http://fightnews.com/alexander-stops-ayala-seven/6229
Is there any good young new Russian super heavyweights coming through? Cause that's a division they need new blood in, never heard of Chobanov hopefully he wins. Babanin has great skills but his form and results are very inconsistent.
There are. Ivan Veryasov and Ruslan Chobanov, they both look very promising. Veryasov looks very old but he is only 23 years old and he boxes like he has 10 years of experience. Veryasov is a more technically sound fighter but Chobanov is better all around fighter. They have newer blood. Romanov, Kuzmin, Gimbatov all look ready for the contender or even champions status in the future. Babanin is the best super heavyweight in the Russian amateur scene. Babanin is fighting his weight but he still is top amateur and would be top 5 heavyweight without any issues in the pro ranks. With wide wins over Medzhidov, Tyson Fury and multiple medals in the Russian championships and with success in World and European championships looks bound to be a star if he turns pro. Babanin is more technically sound and much better in every department than Ruiz Jr and would outmatch him in every department if they would ever fight. He is not tall for a heavyweight but would be a problem for all top 5 heavyweights if he would turn pro, his technical skills and punch power is sick!
From the up and coming Russian heavyweights, Kuzmin looks the best. He had an extensive and successful amateur career, besides he has fought the best in the amateurs, not many have the skills to achieve that. He has fought against Erislandy Savon(ost via close 3:2 decision), fought against Joshua(Lost close 9:7 decision), beat Joyce via 1 round annihilation, has beaten Babanin, has beaten Omarov and great Zuyev as well. The second best has to be Gimbatov, he has a great chin, great inside fighting skills and two straight gold medals in the Russian champs. Gimbatov dominated the Russian super heavyweight scene before retiring This is how I rate up and coming Russian heavyweights in full: 1.Kuzmin 2.Gimbatov 3.Romanov 4.Afonin 5.Plechko
This is the same injury he got after Huck and again after Cunningham, I think Glowacki's elbow/left hand is a chronic thing now. He's done at top level IMO.
Eager to see some footage of Demsey McKean.. 6'5, Southpaw, young, fit and unbeaten. Have no idea how good or bad he looks - but those are attributes that don't come along very often at HW.
Heavyweight Newfel Ouatah will fight Jakov Gospic on 11 November. Prior to this fight, he was fighting in the amateurs.
This content is protected UFC HW Walt Harris who is currently riding a 3 fight win streak has been a regular sparring partner for Wilder. Has some amateur boxing experience himself(local golden gloves most likely) At around 7:10 he talks about working with Wilder.
