8 round. The towel comes in and fight is stopped. 30+ seconds left on the clock and it is over. Joyce has made a huge statement in this fight. Was connecting with huge power punches all round long. Guy has huge power.
I would like to see Joyce take a step back and face someone like Kamil Sokolowski before the years end... Would gain some more rounds and a chance to work on some stuff on a tough but game journeyman. Shouldn't be hard to set up due to how popular of an opponent in the domestic scene currently.
Yeah that would be good. In the meantime I'd like to see him have 2-3 more fights over the next couple of months.
I think he will fight only against big-name opponents, Ringstar/Haye doesn't have a big TV deal in the UK, only six shows a year.
‘Obviously Joe Joyce, that was a real fight,’ Haye said after the fight. ‘The other guy came to win. But that shows people how much faith I have in Joe Joyce. We’ve offered Sam Sexton to fight Joe for the British title next. ‘I’ve offered him a career-high pay day. Haven’t heard back from him yet. ‘We offered Dave Allen the chance to fight here tonight, but he turned it down for the rematch [with Lenroy Thomas]. ‘But both of those guys could fight Joe on the undercard of my fight in December, so hopefully one of them come through.’ Haye was delighted with Joyce’s performance, insisting it was the perfect pro debut. Joyce broke Lewison down over eight rounds and looked composed after taking some heavy shots early on. The 32-year-old is a dangerous opponent despite his record and Haye hopes Sexton or Allen is brave enough to take him on. ‘They said a week ago that they would get back to me in two days,’ he said. ‘I’ll chase them up again. Offer them good money.’ He added: ‘I have already offered (good money to people). ‘Hopefully people are brave. Sexton just won the British title. To fight someone in their second pro fight in a 12-rounder, you’d think he’d be brave enough to do that. ‘Same thing in the winner between Allen and Lenroy Thomas. Allen turned down the chance to fight now. http://metro.co.uk/2017/10/21/david...m-sexton-for-joe-joyces-second-fight-7016228/
On Saturday at the gala in Wieliczka in the heavyweight category Michał Cieslak (14-0, 10 KO) will debut. Cieslak put on weight of 223.9 pounds before the duel with Ivica Bacurin (28-12-1, 17 KO). New exciting heavyweight on the horizon.
Michał Cieślak (15-0, 10 KO) succeeded in his return after steroid suspension, making his heavyweight debut and defeating Ivica Bacurina (28-13-1, 17 KO) in his first match this year. Radom fighter began his style - aggressively and forward. But the Croat is a very experienced player who has already had the world champions, so he did not panic. In the second round, he even pulled Michael on the counter with his right hand. At the beginning of the fourth, however, he grasped, he received a strong right hook from Cieslak and flew to the ring mat. He quickly jumped up, cleverly chewed, and in a moment it was after the crisis. With an equal fifth fray, Michal was clearly out in the sixth. Bacurin more and more often clinched and less often hunted. The bizarre scene was more interesting when Ivica again took the gloves and exchanged. Also, last three minutes. Finally, because the previous skirmishes were disappointing.Cieslak almost banged the gong with a strong right hook to his head, but there was no time to follow the blow. So we ended up with the distance fight. The judges scored 79:72, 78:74 and 80:72 - all of course in favour of the Pole. - I felt good, I listened to the corner and did not fire. You have to go ahead and continue to grow. If it is needed, then maybe I will still be in the cruiser category - Michal said after all.
