I thinK Gorman is solid prospect, but I also think he's too small, won't get past a good longer jab and will not take a good heavyweight punch. A good regional type, boxing needs lot of them.
I think he will get past opponents from top 30 with ease. I think in a years time he will be rated 10 by most ranking organizations.
Gorman only looked that good because of Turner looking like a total bum. Compare Turner vs Hrgovic and Turner vs Gorman. Day and night versions of him imo. I do not know what was wrong with him yesterday but he looked awful compared to the Hrgovic fight and i wouldn't say Gorman is better than Hrgovic, faster or has more power or is the better boxer in general. Very hard so say but it looked like Turner was brought in to lose and to make Gorman look like a Top 10 prospect to boost his career. I still believe Gorman will be exposed vs a fast, big and heavy handed opponent. I do not think he will beat Kuzmin or Hrgovic. Can't see that tbh.
If he's managed right, okay. Top 30 I agree. That's about his cleaning. Some alphabet rating system to justify their own corruption might put him in their top ten, but he'll never sniff Ring Magazine's top ten or even Box's Rec's top ten in my opinion. No offense to Gorman, he's a fine addition to boxing and there is a place for him to make some $$$. Gorman does not have the physicality to beat the better 6'4"- 6'7" top prospects. With just a 73 " reach and a build that I think won't take a good punch, his good skills and power will only take him so far. If he faces a good jabber with some pop, he's going to lose IMO.
Kuzmin = Tough guy / durable with some power, and some skills. Kuzmin could upset Wilder ( 60/40 in favor of Wilder ) , or " out gut " say Parker. At age 30, he's in his prime. Kuzmin vs Fury now? 50/50 He's not going to out box the best, that much I'm sure of. Kuzmin just does not have the speed / defense / or range. I'd like to see him get a title shot, he would be better than all of Wilder's title opponents in my opinion.
And let's not forget his 9/7 loss to Joshua and fact that has like 3 or 4 victories over Dychko. And countless victories over best amateurs.
And by the way judging by what Kuzmin said, Joshua ran from him whole fight and that Joshua was clearly out powered in that fight.
Well, he won't on the level of Lenox or Holyfield or Tyson for that matter but he might somewhere in top 10 all time greats when he finishes his career. I think he will unify the division but he doesn't have that WOW effect about him.
I wouldn't put him in the top ten of champions right now. To acheive that he's going to need to beat quite a few ranked contenders in their prime. Beat Povektin, Wilder and 3-4 more top ten contenders, then he's in a the conversation. The Parker vs. Joshua fight bothered me a bit as both sort of withdrew from the action, partly due to the ref. On the plus side AJ did lose the pounds he needed to. At age 28, he could have 6+ more prime years if he dedicates himself to boxing. I think AJ's a bit of a fouler, when he's hurt.
Not now, when he finishes his career. I think it's evident that he will unify and defend all the titles at least 2 times.
Michael Hunter beat Iago Kiladze by fifth round KO. This was Hunter's second fight at heavyweight. This time he came lighter in at 218 pounds.
