Cojanu is durable against orthodox fighters. He struggles against southpaws as he leaves himself open to the straight left.

 

I noticed that Joshua Temple - who had a decent amateur career and was being hyped as the next USA hope at CW - has dropped two decisions to two fighters of no distinction in the past few months. Heck the 2nd loss was to a 40 year-old Luther Smith!

 

I think they are bringing along Dubois at a sensible and reasonably-quick pace. Kevin Johnson for your 9th fight isn't unambitious and he's a guy who is virtually impossible to stop if he survives long enough to feel out your grove. Not a guy to look good against.

If you look at the opponents who prospects like Junior Fa, Ivan Dychko, and Cassius Chaney have been fighting lately - you can't be too critical of how they are stepping-up DD.

Good opponents would be fighters with some survival skills and it would be good to get him in with a couple experienced boxer-puncher types who have a decent Ring IQ and maybe a bit of reach on him.

I think Dave Allen would be a great fight for DD in 2019. Johan Duhaupas, Artur Szpilka, maybe Mariusz Wach, too.

 

Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere on this thread, but Charles Martin's twitter page suggests he's going to be fighting on Feb 26th against a yet-unnamed opponent and is working with a new trainer.

 

Tervel Pulev will likely return in February in Bulgaria.

 

Don't agree about you assessment of Gorman against Cojanu.

Cojanu's only KO losses are against southpaws. Yeah, Ortiz went through him like a rock flies through glass - but so did Donovan Dennis who was stopped by both Fedosov and Miller not long afterwards and is no longer boxing at all. Cojanu may be useless against Southpaws but Gorman is orthodox stance.

Gorman won a more one-sided decision against Cojanu than Parker did. And he did so with less overall experience than Parker and sporting a whopping 8 inch reach deficit to his opponent. It's a pretty impressive result, IMO.

I've seen Gorman fight and I'm impressed. He seems to be always be doing the right things with his hands and feet. He's got a different type of talent than, say, Daniel DuBois but he should not be overlooked as a top-flight prospect.

Turnbow has a bit of power - but little else. This result does not surprise me.

Honestly, I think Efe Ajagba is going to be facing problems getting quality fights - and it might already be showing. After fighting and stopping Rodney Hernandez - the quality of his opponents has declined.

There aren't all that many quality journeymen in North America - and I could understand their reluctance to want to box him. Ajagba can wreck a man and there isn't much money behind him yet...nobody wants that work.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in the ring with a boxer like Johnny Rice who gave Tony Yoka some trouble at the start of their fight and who has power of his own. But I have no reason to think that fight will get made.

Ajagba is still a bit raw. With no major money behind him yet stateside, I think he'd be better off flying off to the UK or the Europe to continue his education because I don't a lot of tall, boxer-puncher sorts in North America who would be needed to really grow him as a fighter.

 

Yes, but I reckon the two boxers who have beat him since are fairly-talented.
