I don't think that is the opinion of most of the users, just of those that think everybody who boxed before 1996 would beat the klitschkos

It would, that's how it is in the amateurs since 1984, mercer, golota, tua, ibragimov, solis and deontay wilder won their olympic medals in what is actually a cruiserweight division.

I think the biggest weight should always be called the heavyweight, for historical reasons.
People just seem to have a prejudice against particular weights, smw was an exciting weight in the 90s with a lot of talent but wasn't well respected compared to middleweight, and has only recently had much interest.

To those that say it looks crap, look at lmw, mw, lhw, I really dont think its looking worse than those, even smw now isnt looking amazing

Haye, Mormeck, Adamek, Juan Carlos Gomez and O'Neil Bell are all bit part players of the heavyweight division now. That just goes to show you how lacking in talent the CW division really is. It isn't strong at all, just equally matched between the nothing fighters that are still weight draining at the kiddy division.

if paquiao competed at smw he wouldnt be succesful, that doesnt mean he is ****. Its a massive step up, its not like moving from light welter to welter, cruiserweight to heavyweight in the modern era is a difference of about 35lbs on average looking at the top ten. plus jcg, bell and mormeck are past their best now.
they should be judged p4p, not head to head against much bigger opponents.

It's more of the fact that there isn't much separating the top fighters, so the fights are usually pretty even and exciting(Cunningham v Adamek, Cunningham v Huck)

JCG and Haye are the same height and weight as a prime Foreman, they're not small or weak. CW is just a nonsense pointless division that should be abolished along with about another 6/8 weight classes.

haye and adamek are giving away about 10lbs on foreman, and that was a time when hws were much smaller, foreman was a big heavyweight in the 70s. JCG is 38 and hasn't boxed at cruiserweight for ten years, this thread is about the current cruiserweight division and the fights that have happened in the last few years.
The boxers i mentioned in the opening post are all pretty exciting to watch and display a good level of skill, there's been some really good fights that dont really get the attention they deserves because people say they arent good enough to beat the klitschkos and be undisputed hw champions.
We rate every other boxer based on what weight they compete at, if you do the same for cruiserweights you might appreciate what is a good exciting weight where some good fights are happening

Out of all the divisions to abolish, it definitely shouldn't be cruiser! The limit is 25lbs above the weight below, and as most good hws now are 235ish and above thats far too much of a difference, where's a boxer at 185lb suppossed to box? starve himself down to 175, or compete at hw? you'd want to see 185lb boxers competing with 245lb and above?
