It's generally been weak for a very long time.
Zurdo Ramirez lost every single round to Bivol and is now top 2 at cruiserweight

Badou Jack lost to Marcus Browne and won a belt at Cruiser

    Makabu had a belt

The division was stronger when Usyk was there but ya generally a very weak division

The Usyk years were easily the best years.

While you were typing this, Michal Cieslak, a Cruiserweight, just retired Jean Pascal.

It usually is a pretty bad division but sometimes has its high times which unfortunately seem not to be as much.
Evander had some fun fights and Haye as well.

Its because there is more money to be made as a middling heavyweight than as a upper tier cruiserweight. Guys like Andrew Tabiti, Steve Cunningham or Kevin Lerena probably make nearly as much in a bang average heavyweight bout as they do in a crusierweight championship match.

I wish the division had more depth and talent though, especially with Opetaia there who is an exciting fighter I'd like to see against higher quality opponents.

Its a tweener division fighters who could contend at LHW(or make weight) and HW aren't going to be there in large numbers. The dropoff in talent will be higher. Multiple belts means a few fighters can be champ but thats about it.

Now Bridgerweight will take some of the larger CW talent that struggled to make weight same as CW did with LHW. It makes sense CW will suffer the most. When a top guy runs out of Cruiser oppurtunitys instead of staying they have another place they can go.
