Cruiserweight Match: Jack Dempsey Vs David Haye

I think i actually had more of a summary for Fitz Calzaghe than i do for this for some reason. Both need to throw with conviction to have any chance of winning though as you say they cant ***** foot around each other.

I agree Dempsey is a top 20 probably about 13th in my list. I just have a vision of that fast combo that put Tunney down in the second fight just landing on Haye and putting him in trouble and putting him down. Haye will get up but be stopped Thompson style on his feet.

 

I'd take Dempsey at heavyweight (albiet with a little less confidence) let alone Cruiser.

I'd probably take Dempsey to survive the odd early KD, force his way inside and stop Haye around the 6th.

 

Yep, Carpentier had him holding for a moment but Hayes whiskers have also been dented by a Light Heavyweight.

Dempsey would retire this pretender inside three rounds.

 

Demspey is one of my all time favourites, I like Haye but I think Dempsey would be too much for him to handle.

If Haye fought a disciplined, pot-shotting fight & stayed on the outside for 10 rounds he could win a decision but the more likely result imo is Dempsey wins by the 6th in an exciting fight, possibly exchanging knockdowns on the way. I think that at some point the fight would go to the trenches & everyone who did that with Jack came off 2nd best.

 

If Haye tries to pot shot his way to a win he gets taken out with ease. He moves back in a straight line far to often to get away with it from a fighter like Dempsey, his defence isn't good enough and he hasn't got the endurance to win with Tunnys strategy. I think Hayes best chance would be to try and take the centre of the ring, he has the speed, power and he is a pretty good slugger so he should go all in and try to stop Dempsey early because thats exactly what Jack will be doing and there will be openings. It would be amazing, like Torres V's Holt 2.

Haye is much better when he is the shorter man or about equal in hight, he can use his speed to greater effect and he doesn't struggle with timing.
