Was the cruiser dead tired at the second half of the second round or was he doing a shitty Roy Jones imitation.
He was nice and relaxed, the kid could turn into a white james toney if he trains right. If he has ko power at this stage, then he may be a real ko merchant when a adult. He has to move his head more, improve his cardio and be sagacious enougth to understand that you cant fight of the ropes all the time. Is he youre son, if he is i would be proud that kid might be a top fighter someday.
Most defently proud he is Latino BTW he does need to work on that head movement that has been comming along little by little though I dont mind it too much if he isnt standing tall he is only 5'3 so with his Knees bent he is a harder target to find most people he fights will be taller than him but I do need him to move that head a bit more and he has been improving on that. The kicker with him is he loves to fight so he will drop his hands and invite you in to mix it up, simply becuase he knows he can take a shot and give one back, I would rather him not, but you know how young men can be sometimes. Anyhow we are supposed to fight this sunday but his hand got hurt in sparring so depending on how its feeling today depends on weather we fight or not.
Your boy has good lateral movement, handled himself ok. I love sparring with the bigger guys, you can really let your punches go and the extra power coming your way keeps you on your toes. Whats his record?
He is 2-2 in the amateurs though I feel we are 3-1 that is a matter of opinion I guess, we were going to fight this sunday but its called off he fractured his hand in sparring last week.
Sparring is suppose to be different than fighting. You are both suppose to be working on improving your skills. There should be a qualified coach supervising to ensure both are working with each other, Even bigger guys should not be taken advantage of. Bragging about dropping a bigger guy in the gym, only illustrates your limited cranial capacity.
Dude, sparring has one purpose! - To prepare you for the fight, its important to have a few sessions where you get to feel under real pressure. If you have just skill sessions only during sparring your body and mind do not get to practice the emotions and pressures you will feel when you do it for real. I would not spar this way all the time as you do need the more technical stuff but I have found I got a lot out of these tougher sessions and recognise why our boxing trainers allow them and besides you spar to the level thats coming your way, If he is not giving any respect and trying to knock you out its a given that you should match him and give some heavy punches back.
OK. Then get better guys to spar with. Guys better than you. A qualified coach can tell the guy what you need --- like back him up and see what he can take to the body. So --- gym wars with some big galute with limited skills shouldnt be part of the program for the obvious reasons.
This is the dead reality of the sport sparring is to work on your skills but at my kids stage its about not only that but prepairing him for war, anything that may come his way during a fight, its not just to sharpen your skills you can work on those through doing Mitt and bag work, Sparring is to sharpen those skills when another man is trying to knock your block off as well. No I dont send him in there with People who are going to attempt to knock his head off that happens on its own and when that does we simply crack back. But I do put him in there with guys who are going to make him work and test him in areas he needs improvement on, the reason for this is becuase the other guy who ever we fight is also training to win, so basicly my method of training is to fight, its that simple we prepair as best we can so that no matter what comes our way we are ready and have no excuses should we lose. Bottom line is Sparring is to sharpen your skills but its also and most importantly used to prapair him for a fight.
lol is this the same bazooka that was tryin to fight my boy Charlie? then u start telling ppl that he threw a brick to ur gym's window?
That cruiser was a dud.. he'll get stiffened if he fights a bloke his own weight that is any good. They both looked short and too heavy. Your boy moved well.
