The fight had sickening intensity..Two very very hard tough men...brutally strong....it was so interesting to think who would move who back...

This is as good a technical performance as has ever been fought.

This just gets better from Hagler every time I see it.
He actually gave Sibson the utmost respect I don’t think we ever saw him as up on his toes as he was in that fight.
You had to feel sorry for Tony, Hagler was at his absolute peak there.

I never could see Monzon beating him.

Appreciate you posting it, I went over and watched the fight through and for long stretches, I found myself just focusing on Hagler's footwork, and remembering how well he was able to blend defense and offence with his ring generalship, practically controlling Sibson like a puppet on a string, backing him up when he moved forward, drawing him into punches when he moved back, turning him at proper angles over and over, truly a work of art.

Marvin at his most Marvelous, and Sibbo was a tough out.

When you completely dismantle a good fighter like that ... this is what greatness looks like.

I thought his best night was vs Minter. He had to go to England and face the throng of bad electricity, all directed at him. But he pummeled the bigger man.

Can’t argue against that version of Hagler either but I just love his movement in this fight.

What if there was no Marvin Hagler?
Fighters like Sibson, Hamsho, Roldan, Mugabi, Hearns, Obijimas, and Duran likely win the Middleweight Championship, or, at least a version of it, everyone of those fighters were prime or very close to it.
I also look at how good the opponents are, every one of those men were good enough to win a championship and defend it a few times.
That's a tribute to Hagler because he destroyed damn near everyone of them.
Also a tribute to just how special Duran was when considering everyone of those other opponents were natural Middleweights.

Just watched it again myself and paid attention to the footwork as you pointed out — even when Hagler moves to his left as a southpaw, he still manages to keep his right foot outside of Sibson’s left foot. That’s easy to do going the other way, but difficult when boxing on your toes and gliding in and out going to your left.

    Masterclass.

Marvin was taken too soon- these times are anything but marvellous the great man earned a luxurious long life for the several life times of work paid to earn his rest.

But sadly being short changed is a tragically familiar feeling for Marvin start to finish- rest in piece idol, hero, champion- Man
