Kazuto Ioka vs McWilliams Arroyo (Spetember 8, 2018) (10 Rounds for the WBC Sliver Super-Flyweight Title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 2: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 3: 10-8 Ioka
    Round 4: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 5: 10-9 Ioka
Round 6: 10-9 Ioka (better round for Arroyo, but still not enough to win the round)
    Round 7: 10-9 Ioka
Round 8: 10-9 Ioka (Another round where Arroyo had his moments, but the best most consistent work was done by Ioka)
Round 9: 10-9 Ioka (Big round for Ioka, his 1-1-2 is a thing of beauty, changes speeds wonderfully, he hurt Arroyo to the head & body this round)
Round 10: 10-9 Arroyo (McWilliams to me outworked Ioka imo)

    My Score: 99-90

    Official Scores: (99-90 Ioka) (97-92 x 2 Ioka)
Winner: By Unanimous Decision to win the WBC Silver Super-Flyweight Championship, Kazuto Ioka.

Such a impressive performance after a 17 month layoff/retirement from Ioka. McWilliams is always a live opponent, good enough to beat most of the champions of the weight on his best night. He didn't fight a bad fight here at all, yet Ioka just blew him away with a brilliant display of boxing, and why I like this guy so much body punching, just wish we could have seen the last 2 rounds. I'd like to see Ioka vs Inoue at some point, hopefully soon :ggg

Donnie Nietes vs Aston Palicte (September 8, 2018) (12 Rounds for the WBO Super-Flyweight Title)

Round 1: 10-9 Palicte (close round, Palicte landed the harder shots and did good body work to take it)
Round 2: 10-9 Palicte (Closer round, but Palicte won the bulk of the round tagging Nietes with hard rights to the head & body)
Round 3: 10-9 Nietes (Nietes finally found a good rhythm, still a close round Palicte came on in the last minute landing hard shots but not enough to take the round)
Round 4: 10-9 Palicte (No question about this round, Nietes didn't throw enough to make a case)
Round 5: 10-9 Nietes (Again no question, Donnie hit Aston with several clean hard shots & stunned him. Palicte did his share but not enough to question the winner)
Round 6: 10-9 Nietes (Nietes is in his zone now and runs away with the 1st 2 minutes, Palicte makes the 3rd minute close but Donnie's already won the round)
Round 7: 10-9 Neites (closet round yet, Donnie just edges it and I mean just in the last 5 seconds of the round on my card, not a lot landed clean by either man)
Round 8: 10-9 Palicte (Donnie landed a couple good combos, but Palicte remained active and accurate throughout and tied it up)
Round 9: 10-9 Palicte (Palicte landed the best shot of the round, and stayed active with rights to the body)
Round 10: 10-9 Palicte (Very close)
Round 11: 10-9 Palicte (Again very close)
Round 12: 10-9 Nietes (Nietes most dominant round, there can be no dispute here)

    My Score: 115-113 Plaicte

Official Scores: (118-110 Nietes) (116-112 Palicte) (114-114 Draw)
Winner: Fight was ruled a Split Draw, Donnie Nietes retains his title.

I don't think 3 of the first 4 rounds can be disputed, Palicte won 1,2 & 4 Nietes I felt won round 3. I don't think rounds 5-7 can be disputed, Nietes came on and clearly won 5 & 6. The same can be said for round 9 being a Palicte round, and round 12 being a definite Nietes round. That leaves rounds 7, 8, 10 & 11 to be who did you like because a clear winner is not so easy. Both scorecards that scored for either man are trash, neither man ran away with this or won comfortably. A true blue draw is probably the right call, but 7-5 for either man should be more than acceptable. But it is amazing how many regular watching boxing fans can be swayed by Harold Letterman's card. The site where I keep track of my cards that has a dozen or so regulars that score all the same fights I do scored the fight live almost exactly has Harold. 118-110's & 117-111's across the board for Nietes, except for my score of 115-113 for Palicte, with comments afterwards of robbery and the decision should be overturned. Gee I wonder where they heard that idea lol. Honestly I can go back and fourth on this one, I've watched it 3 times and switched each time. 115-113 Palicte the first time, 115-113 Nietes the second, and the third 115-113 Palicte. Any way you slice it it's a 7-5 win for either man with my opinion in favor of Palicte. I think the draw was more than just.

That's exactly how I scored it but I gave the last round to Takam. Parker won it a lot more comfortably after watching it again.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Felipe Orucuta (September 8, 2018) (12 Rounds Super-Flyweights)

Round 1: 10-9 Estrada (I'm not sure what Harold or anyone else who scored this round for Orucuta were watching, just a shade under crystal clear round for JFE imo)
Round 2: 10-9 Estrada (A bit better round for Orucuta, he didn't get tagged near as much)
Round 3: 10-9 Estrada (Orucuta starting to land a few of his own shots, still JFE wins the round handily)
Round 4: 10-9 Orucuta (Orucuta just bossed the round to me, JFE did his thing, but Felipe held his ground and landed the more eye catching shots)
Round 5: 10-9 Orucuta (Estrada rocked him at the bell, but Felipe clawed bit & scratched his way to the 10 points where JFE looked to be going through the motions)
Round 6: 10-9 Orucuta (Orucuta stunned and bombed away on JFE was the moment of the round and won it for Felipe)
Round 7: 10-9 Orucuta (who you like really, gotta be one of the rounds of the year hands down)
Round 8: 10-9 Estrada (Answers the call, and we have a fight!)
Round 9: 10-9 Estrada (Gets back to his game)
    Round 10: 10-9 Orucuta
    Round 11: 10-9 Estrada
    Round 12: 10-9 Estrada

    My Score: 115-113 Estrada

    Official Scores: (118-110 Estrada) (117-111 x 2 Estrada)
Winner: By Unanimous Decision, Juan Carlos Estrada.

I think Harold got the 2 fighters confused on his scorecard for the 1st & 6th rounds, don't see how else he could score round 1 for Orucuta and round 6 for Estrada. Might be time to retire Harold, I'd rather they bring Larry back to do the job. So that way we can play "guess which round Larry Merchant is gonna call even" game. Started very slow, Estrada just going through the motions not even really trying it looks to me. He allows Orucuta to hang around and get his confidence, and Felipe makes it a exciting, close fight. The winner not being in question of course, I'm talking in number of rounds Orucuta conceivably won, even though there can't be a case made Estrada lost. Not a good performance for someone who the commentators were openly talking about was complaining about the purses HBO is paying him

Adam Kownacki vs Charles Martin (September 8, 2018) (10 Rounds Heavyweights)

    Round 1: 10-9 Kownacki
    Round 2: 10-9 Kownacki
Round 3: 10-9 Kownacki (actually a very close round, I had it edged to Martin until the final seconds when Kownacki stole it back with a good closing bell flurry)
Round 4: 10-9 Kownacki (Another close round, Kownacki just landed a few more shots that were moments of the round, but Martin's getting comfortable)
Round 5: 10-9 Martin (Close round, Martin won the 1st minute with his lead left, Kownacki won the 2nd with his workrate/body work, Martin finished stronger)
Round 6: 10-9 Kownacki (Adam round, but I get the feeling if Martin would put something on his left maybe set down on 1 or 2 he could put Kownacki in trouble)
Round 7: 10-9 Martin (Martin finally showed conviction and put something behind his punches, and it pays off. Not a bad round for Kownacki but Martin's round)
Round 8: 10-9 Martin (Big round for Martin, if he would have put something on his shots just a couple rounds earlier he might have won this fight)
Round 9: 10-9 Martin (Back and fourth round, Kownacki's round early, Martin comes back to just nick it in the end)
Round 10: 10-9 Martin (Crazy round! Both men landed big, Martin did it better and I think even hurt Kownacki at least once this round)

    My Score: 95-95 Draw

    Official Scores: (96-94 x 3 Koxnacki)
Winner: By Unanimous Decision, Adam Kownacki.

Very good fight, neither of these guys are serious contenders but they can have fun fights like this. I wouldn't mind seeing this rematch, though there's no reason for Kownacki to do it. Kownacki doesn't go much higher than he is now in the rankings imo.

In Joo Cho vs. Gerry Peñalosa I

    Round 1: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 2: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 3: 10-9 Cho
    Round 4: 10-9 Cho
    Round 5: 10-9 Cho
    Round 6: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 7: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 8: 10-9 Cho
    Round 9: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 10: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 11: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 12: 10-9 Cho

115-113 Peñalosa; Close fight. Peñalosa was clearly the better fighter but he did himself no favors by not throwing enough punches in the first half of the fight. Cho wasn't killing it on activity either but he managed to land some clean ones from distance early. He had no answers when Peñalosa actually got inside and pounded the body, something he should have done from the very beginning. The only time someone was actually hurt in the fight was surprisingly when Cho landed a great left hook on top of Peñalosa's head as he was lunged down from a missed punch in the latter seconds of Round 7 (could've been Round 6). Gerry's legs buckled but I still gave him the round because he was dominant aside from the last 10 seconds. Peñalosa finished really strong but gave away the last round as Cho had his best round of the fight, actually throwing combos that kept the bull at bay.

Scores: 116-113 Cho, 116-112 Peñalosa, 117-115 Cho. Cho takes Peñalosa's WBC World Super Flyweight Title by split decision.

Shawn Porter vs Danny Garcia (September 8, 2018) (12 Rounds for the vacant WBC Welterweight Title)

Round 1: 10-9 Porter (close, but Porter landed more with the right)
Round 2: 10-9 Porter (Danny landed a couple nice shots, but Porter just landed more imo)
Round 3: 10-9 Garcia (Better round for Danny, timed Shawn well and landed some big shots)
Round 4: 10-9 Porter (Porter exploded that round, Danny barely threw)
Round 5: 10-9 Gracia (Garcia more precise landing well to the body)
Round 6: 10-9 Porter (Clear Porter round, Danny did little again)
Round 7: 10-9 Porter (Another crystal clear round for Porter)
Round 8: 10-9 Porter (Porter ran away with it early, Garcia came back in the last minute to make it close)
Round 9: 10-9 Porter (Close round Garcia's best in awhile, but Porter's body work wins the round for me)
Round 10: 10-9 Porter (Great round. The ref's faces in this round lol)
Round 11: 10-9 Porter (Good round for Shawn, after the last being anybodies round)
Round 12: 10-9 Garcia (Danny went all out to take the round from Porter who was in it)

    My Score: 117-111 Porter

    Official Scores: (116-112 Porter) (115-113 x 2 Porter)
Winner: By Unanimous Decision to win the vacant WBC Welterweight Championship, Shawn Porter.

First off, it's kinda weird a 30 year old man with his own young daughter is still living with his father like Garcia. Second, it's funny they show the Black Panther before the fight and the crowd pops. One of the Charlo boys is setting behind him thinking the crowd is going crazy for him, so Charlo starts playing around, and a actor turns around on camera like a father yelling at his kids in the backseat and tells him to knock it off, and Charlo does lol. Mr. Lions Only clowned on camera by a actor for anyone watching at home to see :risas3:

Through 6 rounds it's clear that most people watching and commenting were bigger fans of Garcia than Porter, with many having Danny up 5-1 to 4-2. Can't see this at all, 4-2 Porter or 3-3 yes but Garcia was doing too much waiting around to try and counter being very accurate in most rounds, but not active enough. Even the commentators most of which were cheer-leading for Garica, incredibly frustrating to listen too. The second half of the fight is much more clear, I'm just not seeing where the controversy in this fight is.

In Joo Cho vs. Gerry Peñalosa II

    Round 1: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 2: 10-9 Cho
    Round 3: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 4: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 5: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 6: 10-9 Cho
    Round 7: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 8: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 9: 10-9 Cho
Round 10: 10-8 Cho (Not really sure what happened here. Cho kept slipping on Peñalosa's corner due to it having too much water on the canvas. The ref deducted a point while holding Cho, which makes no sense, but I believe that was meant as a deduction for Peñalosa because it was his corner that put the water and that's what some articles that I have read have said. Ridiculous point deduction either way.)
    Round 11: 10-9 Peñalosa
    Round 12: 10-9 Peñalosa

115-112 Peñalosa; This was a robbery. Far more entertaining than the first fight because Gerry decided to really get in the inside from the very beginning. He knew what he had to do and he executed it. Cho also threw more than in the first fight and the rounds he won was when he kept Peñalosa at bay with quick combos from distance. But those moments were too far in between. Of course Peñalosa could have been more aggressive, which is always the case when he fights, but he was landing the cleaner, harder punches and he was landing a lot more. If the point deduction for the wet corner was indeed for Peñalosa, what a horrible call by Marty Denkin. A point deduction for either men was ridiculous. Denkin also robbed Peñalosa of a knockdown (forgot what round it was). Gerry landed a body shot that caught Cho off balanced as he fell backwards on his ass. Felt bad for Gerry. He should have won both of his fights against Cho but sadly both took place in Korea and the judges scoring both fights really love a guy moving backwards who's head keeps getting shot back from the other guy's punches.

Scores: 115-112 Cho, 114-113 Peñalosa, 116-113 Cho. The still-undefeated Cho retains the WBC World Super Flyweight Title he won against Peñalosa, in their first match, for the fourth time.

    Jonathan Taconing vs. Robert Onggocan

    Round 1: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 2: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 3: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 4: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 5: 10-9 Onggocan
    Round 6: 10-9 Onggocan
    Round 7: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 8: 10-9 Onggocan
    Round 9: 10-9 Taconing
    Round 10: 10-9 Onggocan

96-94 Taconing; Taconing really showed his age in this fight at 31. He had a lot of trouble against the bigger and stronger man in Onggocan. Taconing really slowed down as the rounds went on and was extremely lucky he had ref that was seemingly on his side. During Round 8, Onggocan dropped Taconing but the ref did not call it. The fight would have been even closer on my card if the correct call was made. Taconing's world rankings as of this moment are WBC #1, WBO #2, WBA #3, and IBF #11. He's closing in on another world title shot but his upcoming fight with Paras is a huge risk. It's a fight that I would not favor him in.

Scores: 96-94, 97-93, 97-93, all for Jonathan Taconing
