Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez I (May 8, 2004) (12 Rounds for the Lineal & WBA/IBF Featherweight Championships)

    Round 1: 10-6 Pacquiao
    Round 2: 10-9 Pacquiao
    Round 3: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 4: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 5: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 6: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 7: 10-9 Pacquiao
    Round 8: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 9: 10-9 Pacquiao
    Round 10: 10-9 Pacquiao
    Round 11: 10-9 Marquez
    Round 12: 10-9 Pacquiao

    My Score: (114-111 Pacquiao)

Official Scores: (115-110 Pacquiao) (115-110 Marquez) (113-113 Draw)
    Winner: Split Draw

(Due to a scoring mistake by Bill Clements the fight becomes a draw. Had he scored round 1 10-6 like he should have Manny Pacquiao wins the fight. Great comeback from Marquez though, after that first round beating to turn it around and actually take it to 6-6 in rounds won is truly amazing.)

    Fight Of The Week

It's a series of threads in classic where I/Philly/Koolkev pick a fight or two to watch every week (ish) and people score it, the aim is to improve our scoring abilities as a group by seeing our different perspectives.

But it also involves watching some obscure classic fights.

A thread on the older ones we've done is here.

Calzaghe 114-113 or 115-112 are both fine, I didn't think Reid did enough to win.

Baer despite being the crude brawler controlled Schmeling throughout most of the available rounds, he appeared to tire in the 7th & 8th rounds allowing Euro Max to climb back into the contest. Then Made in USA Max went off and pulverized Schmeling in the 9th and 10 rounds to earn the ref stoppage. Baer would go on to clobber the OG Mountain Carnera dropping him 10 times in 11 rounds before getting the merciful stoppage to claim the Heavyweight Championship of the World in his next fight,

Fun action packed fight, for the most part Corbett III beat Jackie Boy to the punch throughout the evening despite Fields being the aggressor.
