Ortega has some the slickest and best submission instincts among the current crop. Going to be a real problem at 145... Especially if he continues to develop his striking.

I enjoyed that card, it probably won't have big ratings since UFC sold out to the casuals..The non PPV shows always have guys wanting to just kill each other.

Ortega looks to be one of the best sub guys for a while.

He also looks to have trained his striking before stepping up in class.

If he is able to secure takedowns he can be a threat to anyone at FW as its traditionally not the most grapple heavy division.

Not sure what type of slow lean in and grab type shot Sterling was attempting but he got kneed into the twilight zone.

    Watching this again tonight.

Brian Ortega is my favourite prospect right now.

That first round saw him old his own but get comprehensively out struck, but he showed how dangerous he is in the clinch and Cub was saved by the bell as eventually Ortega would have leveraged that arm triangle and tapped him.

Round 2 goes the same way with Cub out striking him but again Ortega gets a clinch, he has a half assed attempt at a single leg takedown and as Cub defended he takes the guillotine, pulls guard and it's over.

Frankie Edgar has to get the next title shot but I say make Ortega vs Mendes in a final eliminator.

What a great performance, I love explosive submissions. I mean this is a relative prospect in MMA and he did exactly what Mir should have done against Overeem, if he would have adjusted his grip he would have finished that fight as well.

    Ortega, legend.

I agree with this post completely apart from this... Edgar definitely gets the next shot but Orega/Lamas is the fight that makes the most sense for an eliminator. Mendes is coming off a suspension and a long period of inactivity.... No way does he deserve a final eliminator. Lamas has been more consistent and active. How's this one sound btw? Swason/Aldo II makes more sense than ever now.

Aldo vs Swanson deffo that will be a great fight.

But Lamas has a loss to Mendes remember and Mendes has literally only ever lost to ATG fighters, but he hadn't won for a while now so I see your point.

Lamas is the next ranked fighter, but I feel like Mendes would be ranked if he wasn't so inactive.

Overall though I'll go with that. Ortega vs Lamas.
