theres n article from another boxing site (not sure if i can post the link)

But quoted Castro in saying he didnt want anymore of his boxers defecting, so they may withdrawl from the World Championships in Chicago.

This years World Championship is the first Olympic Qualifier, where the top 8 in every weight class qualify (execpt Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight, they are top 4). Cuba most likely would qualify a majority of there team if not all.

It really wouldnt feel like the World Championships without a Cuban team competing

Besides the World Championships how dose a boxer qualify for the Olympics? It seems to me that if Cuba is going to contune to show how "superior" Comunisem is through their secuess in the Olympics they have to get to the Olympics first.

No I'm sure they will go, but security for the fighters will be at the highest leve possible, yet one or two might still defect, its for sure that rigondeaux and Lara will not attent the tournament as their boxing career is over already

When the government is afraid of fighters defecting, it´s pretty obvious that there is something wrong with the leadership and leaders of the country know it.

Will there ever be a change for Cubans?

That is Cuba,...a dictator deciding people's life..citizens dont own their life..cuban boxers have no choice..you either fight for the tyrant(and make sure you dedicate your medals to him!)or work for him...but dont even think about being a pro and fight for yourself or your family!
    it makes me sad,very sad.
A question...would you call Morales,Barrera,Chavez traitors for fighting pro instead of winning medals for Mexico in olimpics games?,same with Trinidad,Cotto in PR...or the Russians HW...or Pacquiao,Hatton,Calzaghe,Sturm?
somebody please tell me where i am wrong?...im cuban..born and raised there,so save the BS about the embargo and free education and health care.

Democracy is no better and I would be happier in a true Marxist run state, over the disgusting global capitalism you have to put up with now a days.
