I created a thread about a week ago saying that if Arum was smart (We eventually found out that he's an IDIOT) the perfect PPV CARD for the Lopez vs Gamboa fight would be a Titled:

Main Event: Juan Manuel Lopez vs Yuriorkis Gamboa

    Omar Henry vs Erislandy Lara

Wilson Vasquez Jr. vs Guillermo Rigondeaux

2010 Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend!!!!

    DAMN!!! I'm There!!!

Honestly I think Rigondeaux could very well beat Gamboa, if you ask the people who know about the Cuban boxers they will tell you he is the best of the current defectors.

    Heres some videos:

That rivarly has always existed but mainly about the Puerto Ricans trying to defeat the Cubans in the amateurs but with hardly any success. That same rivarly will indeed be carried into the pros now that the Cubans have a solid good amount of defectors!

As far as Rigondeaux goes, even though that Rigo outshined Yuriorkis in the amateurs ( but not by much ), Yuri's style for the pros I think has developed way better than Rigo's. Don't get me wrong, Rigondeaux is elite but needs to open up and attack more not just wait for the counters. He needs to have that Yuriorkis killer attitude and forget that defense style of his and attack more!!!

If Rigo learns to be more aggressive and create more attacking opportunities like Gamboa, then he will be just like Gamboa but for now I give Yuri an edge over Rigo, plus Yuri has developed a lot lately!

Rigondeaux will definitely be World Champ, but I don't think that he beats Yuriorkis right now... And I am Cuban...

I dont think there are enough Cuban pros...and PR pros for that matter. Ricans generally have 3-5 world class guys at any given time and face Mexicans often b/c they are so heavily represented from 105-147. The populations of the islands even combined with those in the states is small.

Rigondeaux is much more skilled than Gamboa, always has been and still is today, just think Rigondeaux only has 4 fights, imagine were he will be when he has 17 fights like Gamboa

    Casamayor led the way.

Imagine if you were 26 and national Cuban champ and stil got nothin. Then you see a yank on the tv that you beat in the amatuers who is a world champ living the high life in america. I feel sorry for em, prisoners to cuba and slaves to communism.

The defectors deserve all the success they get.

Gamboa is the most exciting fighter I've seen in a long time. I've been following him since he started in the pros and I've just been amazed how quick, explosive, powerful and fluid he is; this is why I love boxing, the guy is mesmerizing to watch.
