They were good amateurs

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see they obviously are the least best Cuban HWs.
With Cubans long and silly embargo, perhaps Cuba allowed them to escape so that Cuba could feed 20 families with the food they saved from feeding those two.

 

Cuban super heavyweights have been awful in recent years in the amateurs as well. that Pero guy for example at the last olympics had a terrible stereotype Cuban Glass jaw he would make an embarassingly awful pro

There's still hope for Ortiz... And maybe yet Perez. Something lit a fire under him, he's in the best shape I've ever seen him in... Now it's a question of whether or not he'll stay motivated long enough for it to matter.
