That's right, ever since I saw Cuban junior Middleweight Yudel Jhonson I noticed his excellent and fluid skills, outstanding defence, laser type precision and silk as smooth movements. Last night, Lara dissapointed us Cubans. He looked one dimensional, slow and couldn't even land a clean shot on Molina. That's the worst I have ever seen Lara, but Cuban Jhonson really impressed the heck out of me AGAIN. Jhonson has it all, speed ( way faster than Lara ), more accurate than Lara, smooth as Silk ( like Atlas described him ), excellent footwork ( miles ahead of Lara ) and also ring intelligence. I have said it since the beginning that Jhonson is the best 154 pounder from Cuba. I think that Cuban defectors should stick with their Cuban coaches as training with American coaches will only hurt their boxing careers. Ronnie Shields is trying to make Lara into a KO artist ( he said that himself ), but the Cubans are not trained to be that, they are train and thought to box and if the KO comes it comes, if not then win by decision. Last night was Lara's wake up call, and he was very lucky to have gotten a draw against a B- fighter in Molina. Lara looked very bad, slow, innacurate and throwing 1 punch KO's. In the meantime Yudel Jhonson looked like a big version of a young Joel Casamayor, ( incredible defense combined with super fast and accurate punching ), so I am telling all of you that Jhonson will beat Lara anyday of the week if they ever fought! Jhonson should be the one getting the hype and not Lara, as Lara needs to go back to his Cuban basics and forget all that KO artist crap that Shields wants to make out of him. The only not too good thing with Jhonson is that he is already 29 going on 30, and really needs to hurry up while Lara is still 26 years old. To be honest, if Lara doesn't go back to his Cuban skills he will never become World Champion. This is my opinion. :bart
Lara just had a an off night and that will happen to Yhudel eventually too. Both of them are really good. No need to put one over the other like that. Both of them are good professional Cuban boxing representation.
Jhonson looked more impressive than Lara last night. That doesn't mean he's better overall. Plus, I think Carlos Molina from last night would beat Richard Gutierrez from last night.
Jhonson's technique is simply miles away from Lara my friend. even though Jhonson fought a worst opponent than Lara he showed and looked incredibly skilled and far better than Lara in every department. Can anyone see this? :yikes
I think he might have a higher ceiling but Lara is further along, he just had a rough night against a game (albeit featherfisted) opponent. This one night doesn't ruin Lara's star for me.
I think it's just a matter of semantics that's keeping up from agreeing. Lara is probably more talented (as in athletically gifted). Jhonson probably has better skills (as in application of craft). It's the old Roy Jones vs. Bernard Hopkins thing. Lara is Jones; Jhonson is Hopkins. :good One does less with more because he can get away with it - and the other does more with less, which is more impressive.
lara never impressed . people act like hes really good or sumthing. my boy k9 would woop his ass and k9 aint nuttin special
Im surprised how fast people jump Lara's bandwagon based on ONE BAD NIGHT , then of course we know this types of " fans " jump back as soon as Lara's start winning again , then they are off again things don't go as expected . I like to call them in spanish : " Fanaticos de Cachumbambe " . Peace .
I haven't heard the cahumbambe word in over 30 years IMLMAO!! and yes you are right but most is the haters, they are waiting in the shadows always hoping for a Cuban to under perform, but you know what, they are here to stay and they will keep on coming younger and hungrier, too many of the so called fans never expected for the Cubans to turn pro, they saw they hopefuls get whoop by Cubans in the amateurs and then they will jump to the pro, saying we are not going to see those dam Cubans again, guess what? They are here and like I say before the new generation will be with less hardware from the amateurs but younger and hungrier.
I have always thought Jhonson is better than Lara, since the beginning. No soy ningun fanatico de cachumbambe sino que veo la gran diferencia technica entre Jhonson y Lara. I am in favor of both of them as I am Cuban but the truth is the truth. I am not trying to put down Lara as I like him but last night he looked very one dimensional against a mediocre fighter. :?
