You are refering to Guillermo Rigondeaux (the guy on my avatar) and Erislandys Lara... Guilelrmo Rigondeaux is known to be a better talent that Gamboa and Solis so just imagine how good he would be

You can still see amateur fights of him though.:good

I heard (from a local contact) that the cuban national boxing association(?) .. is completely ignoring Rigondeaux..
So long for a third try for gold.

really ? wish cuban fighters that has really been consider great in the amature has gone pro ?

well the answer is NONE, the ones considered great were Stevenson, Savon, Kindelan and Rigondeaux... and not one of them ever turned pro, you always get the ones that are not over protected by the goverment thats why they are the only ones that leave, but the truly great ones never do.

i know you love your cubans....i wish they would all turn pro...imagine, they'd be right in the mix with mex, puerto rico and now the flips...:bbb :bbb

sometimes, all the pressurs lies on us mexicans.....we need some other dominant mofos to come into the boxing scene..

I totally agree men, It sucks cause i actually got the see these people and meet them and you know my old stepfather the father of my brother he is the one of the cuban national trainer so he trained and tought me alot about these guys (including Gamboa and Solis) and he himself also told me he had never seen anything like Rigondeaux... and he knows Savon and use to train in his time, so you can just imagine how high i think of Rigondeaux and how much it sucks that he cant be in the pro game

They say it was by choice, but it is clear to everybody that it was because while they were hiding, the cuban goverment pressured they familys and so they folded

Don't worry, I visit Cuba regularly and nobody gets murdered. Well if you try to kill Fidel the you do get killed of course:lol:

It's very cool because all the boxing (and baseball) heroes just walk on the street and you never know when you can bump into one!

As I mentioned before though, Rigondeaux likely will not het another chance in the ams. But we have a new guy to watch out for!... a monster... Idel Torriente! Gold at beijing bro!

I saw Gamboa's last fight vs De Jesus and he's very impressive. Fast and skilled. Just needs to control his overconfident attitude. A few more fights and he's ready to step up against the top fighters. I think he'll be a future champion.
