Odlanier Solis vs. Ross Puritty in Lübeck This content is protected Arena's night of the "Rising Stars" in Lübeck's Hansehalle finally has a real main event. On September 21st Olympic heavyweight gold medallist Odlanier Solis (27) faces US-ring veteran Ross Puritty (40) in his 4th professional fight. By sending his heavyweight jewel Solis into the ring with "Ross, the Boss" arena-CEO Ahmet Öner continues his policy to give the Cuban "real" opponents instead of building up his record with bush-league journey men. In his first three pro-fights three-times amateur World champion Solis beat reigning German heavyweight champion Andreas Sidon (record 32-7-0), strong Ukrainian Alex Mazikin (10-1-0) and Sweden's Aldo Colliander (12-1-0) which took Solis straight to position no. 38 in the WBC world rankings. Öner: "Solis is too good to beat up guys who lost 55 out of 57 fights. He needs real challenges. Puritty is a strong opponent but he will have no chance against the power, speed and precision of Solis." Puritty - a fighter with a heart of gold and a head of steel. The former WBC International Champion won 30 fights and lost only three times before the final bell. On December 12th 1998 he shocked the boxing world by tko-ing Wladimir Klitschko in round 11. It was Wlad's first loss in his 25th fight. Five years later Vitali Klitschko took revenge for his younger brother by stopping Puritty in round 11. What does Solis think about his next opponent? "My manager chose him, so I'll fight him. To become World Champion I got to beat everybody who crosses my way. Puritty won't stop me." Hamburg, September 11th 2007
this is a joke. the other opponents were already better. purrity is just a punchingbag these days. both coliander and mazikin would have beaten purrity.
well no matter whats, he is facing some pretty good competition to start of his carrer, imagine the oponents he will be facing when he has 10 or 15 fights.
A good choice. The Boss may be unimaginably slow now and even more of an easy target, but he's still durable and a good way of getting rounds. Hopefully going the distance will inspire the Cuban to pay more attention to conditioning. That said, Roman Greenberg has had gone the distance loads of times and is yet to get rid of his man-titties.
Good fight for a 4th fight. Yes Purrity is way past it and old and slow but Solis is obviously serious. He does need to stop being a fatass though.
