I don't think the fight would be as one-sided as their actual one, but I still favor Norris. He's stronger and just too fast at 154. Ray is best at 147.

 

I'm not sure he could, mainly because Norris is underrated and has a style that saw him dominate a past prime Leonard. Norris was by far the best 154lb of his era and down in his prime and would have dominated Delahoya, Whitaker, Trinidad, Quartey if they had dared to step up. I think he may have got Jackson in a return but JJ is probably another underrated talent

Was Leonard drained against Norris, because he was only 1 year removed from dominating a decent version of Duran

 

Trinidad would've brutally KO'd Norris.

 

Vargas/Campas/Castillejo DLH would have tapped that ass as well, IMO.

I doubt he wins a miniute of the fight, especially if you're losing practically every miniute of a fight to DLH and Winky.......

 

Norris was skilled enough to have gained Leonard's full attention. Bad idea. Leonard's eyes would have gotten the size of saucers and he'd get that sneer on his face and catch Norris with something in the mid rounds of the fight. And Leonard was a supreme finisher (and Norris had a shaky chin).

 

Norris was an exceptionally conditioned, lightning fast, seriously punching fighter ... from an offensive basis he was as dangerous as they come ..He also had a huge heart... his problem , obviously, was his chin ... it was his weak link ..

Norris could also be very smart, disciplined and learn .. look at his Simon Brown fights .. the way he came back from a frightful beating to dominate Brown in the rematch by changing his style and sticking to it ...

He would always be a very dangerous opponent for Leonard because of his skill set and the fact that he was the bigger man but Ray would stop him ... Ray was simply exceptional, too often over looked these day but an all time great pound for pound fighter for sure ..

 

You must consider it the first or second weakest era for the 154.
What reasoning do you have to ranking him above Simon Brown ? are you one of those who consider a decision win more than a clean stoppage ? And Norris had his share of stoppage losses , worse even than your hero Roid Jones whom at least wasn't stopped during his prime , although Norris should definitely be considered as the braver take on all comers fighter , which explains why he has a seemingly worse record during his prime.

Do Norris apologists not find it disturbing that his best performance was against a(nother) washed up Welterweight in Simon Brown? Do they not find it discomforting that it took him two tries in the first place? I could understand them saying "Alright, but at least he dominated the rematch, let's move on". But to use it as some kind of an indicator toward greatness?

 

I really don't know the circumstances, Ray was a smaller MW though to be fair

 

I'm not sure Brown was washed up, he had 1 last roll of the dice and caught Teddy cold and I don't think he recovered, thats boxing it happens. Norris is going to be fighting WWs, he couldn't fight the A Listers because they rightfully knew it was in their best interests to stay out of his division until he was done
