Leonard ko by mid rds. Terry's flashiness sees him go ok early but by the sixth Ray is well head on pts. A McCallum type finish possibly.

I think early on Norris would hang with SRL and keep it tight, but for as talented as Norris was he just didnt have that "IT" factor that Leonard had...Leonard was such a clutch fighter and always found a way to turn it up a notch when in tough fights...... Fight would be close going into the mid rounds until Leonard shows his greatness and turns it up a notch and knocks out Norris...... Leonard ko 7 or 8

Ray would beat Norris easily. You cannot compare the prime 1981 Ray to the 1991 Ray who was tired and slow. Ray would have won in about round 3 or 4. The chin of Norris would be his undoing.

Ray relied on speed in his prime, and in 1991 his speed was practically gone. The Lalonde fight showed how Ray had deteriorated by 1988. Hearns beat up Ray in 1989. Ray beat Duran just because Ray was faster than Duran in 1989 and knew that if you outsped Duran and fought your fight you won. But his speed by the late 1980's and 1991 was essentially gone. Look at the Lalonde fight. He knocked Lalonde down at the end of the fight with a punch on the break. All the other punches missed.

Jackson's knockouts were just incredible. And the thing is he landed such clean punches on guys who were hard to hit clean like that. That was not just a guy swinging wildly.

Leonard would beat Norris in a prime for prime scenario. The Sugarman holds all the advantages.

I suppose it's possible. However, he had many chances to do the job and didnt. After all was said and done it was Norris that stepped up and beat the odds, while Leonard couldnt

He had chances early when he was at his strongest and still in good condition but Terry with his brilliant defense smothered his chances, gave him no hope. In fact, when Ray "brought it on", Terry went into higher gears. You could really see the blazing hand speed come out as Ray instantly backed off with his attack. I believe Leonard's respect of Terry's power was the main reason for his inability to wear down Norris as well as his inability to catch him in later rounds

This is not at all like Leonard-Bonds where you basically had an opponent with little talent. Ray COULD sucessfully pressure this type of fighter that was tailor made for him

I am of the belief that Ray could not deal with a multi dimensional, fast moving target with trigger fist hands like Terry. I've never seen evidence of it

I had been saying the same since 1987, 1988 that he could not deal with this type and that if he ever had to PROVE it, that he would lose and lose badly

like I said, "let him prove it"

It's obvious that Ray is not comfortable when he has to lead. And to make matters worse, Norris was the kind of shock puncher who could get Ray's respect. Either to the had or body, Norris demonstrated that he could hurt Ray Leonard. Leonard never demonstrated he could hurt Norris, even at point blank range (end of rd 11)

He TAMED Ray Leonard, breaking his spirit early. You could tell by rd 3 he didnt want it anymore. The desire for battle had left him

And on defense, Norris did not have the problems as Hearns, sticking his chin up high nor were his hands by his waist. Norris is clearly the better man on fundamentals. Note how quickly Terry could smother Ray's attack inside. Hearns lacked these basic skills

and when it came to offense, Terry put Sugar in a shell. Yes he had power and to spare when it came to putting Ray Leonard in his place!

Leonard didnt respect an opponent that couldnt hit and was slow. he DID respect a man that was fast and could get him in trouble, like Terry

Notice how well he fared gainst hands of stone in 89 but how poorly he fared gainst sleek, athletic Norris in his following fight. The contraxt in results is in fact indicative of the man's weaknesses. Yes, HE DID need need the right kind of opponent to shine. Put him next to someone faster tho and you get a confused, and badly outclassed fighter.

So based on matchup of styles, weaknesses, actual results, that sort of thing, I really dont see any other possible outcome other than Norris W UD Leonard

I knew this thread would get RedRooster out of hiding.

    SSJ1 Ray Leonard - 30,000,000
    Terry Norris (Kaio-Ken x4) - 9,500,000

I think Leonard could beat Norris pretty easy prime for prime.Norris was a good fighter but not as good as Leonard.

I think Norris had Leonard's number. Simple as that really. Ray is not going to go in to search and destroy mode with someone that had the offensive arsenal that Norris had.

  13. exaclty ! it is the fact .
Norris had so much offenseive material , n speed .

it's an easy, safe choice really. most here pick Ray based on name recognition and resent Terry for the way he unveiled his weaknesses. I've said it before, put him in against slow footed, slow fisted, immobile straight in fighters and he will shine. But gainst those such as Norris, Jones, Nunn and he's a loser every time

    Like they say, styles

People basically choose Ray because they want him to win, especially those that predict a lopsided win or you with your ridiculous comparisons. That's resentment.

terry Norris is one of the most resented fighters ever becuz of what he did to RL, exposing him like that

Nobody knew and neither did they want to know how Sugar would fare against a lesser known opponent on his way up. He really hadnt faced any

He passed up two of them in the early 80s - Pryor, Hagler so we really dont know. But I know. I knew since his comeback and even before by the way he sidestepped certain opponents

He did face Tommy Hearns but there wasnt anyone else. All the other Jr middles were safe, untalented.

There was the undersized K. Howard that decked & retired him. I was surprised. Even for Ray that was a struggle that made him want to quit and did quit. What kind of fighter calls it quits at 27 becuz he was in a fight that was tougher than expected?

That is not special. Ray Leonard was supposed to be special. The media promised us special

I'd hate to see what Terry wouldve done to him :!:

Before that there was Kalule, a muscular but non descript, untested, unfamiliar Jr Middle that lacked the attributes of Terry Norris ie; mobility, speed, power. He had no punch, which Ray tested early on and proceeded to basically walk thru him. Ray could carry the fight to these slow, plodding types and not have to worry about getting caught by blinding fast counters, ala Terry Norris, Roy Jones

He would not however, be able to walk thru Norris. He tried it gainst Norris but Terry put him down painfully then proceeded to mop the floor with him in most painful and humiliating fashion.

I have often been quoted that Norris was slick, quick, and he made Ray Leonard sick. Which is precisely why he needed another 6 years off from the sport

Before Kalule, there was Geraldo who turned Ray to spaghetti legs in front of a national TV audience. Geraldo who is not known as a dangerous puncher. What was it, three times I saw Ray's knees dip? Imagine what Norris wouldve done. It wouldnt be pretty.

A few convincing wins over quality jr middleweights, Moore, Mugabi, Hearns, McCallum, and I'd have reason to favor Leonard but the pickings here are slim and evidence is flimsy. It's too much to ask for to extrapolate wins over Howard, etc to a win over a dangerous, multidimensional fighter like Norris
