If prime, feared 70's Pipino had stepped up to Junior Middle and challenged this other solid puncher... I favor Mugabi, being the bigger man and a hard hitter himself, but if Cuevas caught him flush...
Christ............ Cuevas is fodder for Mugabi......... Time machine or not, Mugabi KO's Cuevas........... Cuevas was solid at 145 to 149 pounds; Mugabi was better offf at 154 to 160........... Mugabi turned pro at 147, but that didn't last long there....... MR.BILL:hat
Cuevas' power is fabled too........ Okay, at 140 to 147 it was awesome........ But Cuevas NEVER proved he could beat a real contender at 150 to 160 pounds........ Cuevas' power above 150 was NOT there........ NO!! MR.BILL
I like the pre Hearns Cuevas to outlast the pre Hagler Mugabe in a war of attrition. During his championship peak, Pipino could take a shot, and was a sound strategist within the limits of his style (bombing and retiring southpaw former champion Billy Backus with a succession of right hand leads immediately out of the gate). The Beast lost his war with Hagler. Cuevas won Espada III. When it came right down to it, I think Pipino was a little tougher.
Mugabi is too big and strong for Cuevas IMO.... Mugabi obliterates Cuevas in four rounds.... It only goes this long because Cuevas is so tough and has a huge heart... He's outgunned in this one.
That is cause he never fought there in his prime but if he did believe that hed be knocking out people at JM.:yep However i do agree that Mugabi was to big for Cuevas. Mugabi was a huge Jm and even good size at Middle. He would ice Cuevas in 4, however i wouldnt count Cuevas out in this one either.
Damn Mugabi that Hagler fought would annihilate Cuevas worse than Hearns did(although thats hard to top)
Mugabi would be too big and powerful for Cuevas to handle. He would probably have Pipino out in three rounds tops.
This is not a cool threa? Why not but Mugabi agsinst a real midlle like Florentino Fernandez! Good idea new thread
