cung le, is he respected?

  1. hi there.

there was a 'strikeforce' programme on earlier which featured some of cung le's wins. i really like a fighter that does a lot of kicking, like he does.

in this highlight show he looked really good, but i've read the odd sarcastic comment or two about him in this forum, and i get the impression he isn't respected too much. i'm just wondering why that is?

has he ever fought in the ufc?

No he never fought in the ufc.He still lacks ground game but he has work on his takedown defense. He is a great striker and was dominating scott smith until he got caught and got knockout.

I think he doesn't get much respect cuz he hasn't really fought a fighter who is on top of his game. Frank Shamrock fought him dumb and didn't go for the takedown. He got destroyed on his feet.

I like to see him against jake shields or dan henderson next.

  3. i actually just watched both of the fights you mentioned. you are right he really was dominating smith big time.
as for shamrock, what a dickhead, fighting the way he did.

he's around 38 or so isn't he? i suppose its all a bit late for him now.

I respect his kicks, I think his hands are poor, that includes defence. I think his strikes are average and his grappling sub par for the modern mixed martial artist. In the 2 years since he has left MMA has simply continued to evolve. Cung can say he is one of the few to employ crazy kicks but he is still one dimensional.
