Im more intrigued as to why he struggled to make weight? He had no problems making 85 for his fight with Lindland. But struggled to make 196? And did he look softer or was that just me?
How is the fact that people were fighting full on vale tudo fights before Bruce Lee existed semantics? Bruce Lee brought fancy kung fu moves that look neat in movies to a few people in hollywood. In terms of fighting, he did nothing compared to guys like Dempsey, Kano, Helio, and a million other people.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise, but Belfort is a pretty clear underdog; betting sites agree with me. It's not like I'm saying Franklin is a stone cold lock, just that he's likely going to win.
Well thank god. Cung Le is arguably the most overrated fighter in MMA. Hes a fighter who became incredibly popular from fighting tomato cans and past their prime legends. Hes acting because he knows hes at the point in his career where he has to fight legit fighters. And he knows hes going to lose when he does.
And im quite confident Franklin is going to win. But Belfort is dangerous. Good hands, good power. But overall, not a main event im particularly interested in.
All I'm saying is this: Belfort plus Couture = unbeatable. Belfort looked like a monster against Lindland. Lindland is every bit the solid pro that Franklin is.
Forrest Griffin Gina Carano. Coutures two favorite pupils, recent results? Wanderlei Silva, Coutures most recent high level project. Recent results? Couture is probably the best place in the world to train because of all the other pros and great trainers, but its not magic. You don't become great through osmosis.
Belfort has always been special. He's just needed some fine tuning. Carano and Griffin are hard workers - but they never had the natural gifts and abilities of a fighter like Belfort. It's going to be interesting to see how this fight plays out.
Belfort is primarily an ultra talented boxer with a take down defence, the odd knee, the odd sub etc He is like Liddel. He has so many other parts of his game that we don't get to see. Sure, Chuck has a takedown defence but would you honestly guess he was as good at wrestling as his history details! I'd love to see Belfort fight like a black belt BJJ and add a little more to his striking.
You do if you train with them. I'll put my training with Relson Gracie up against anyone in the world in the street - not in a cage under rules - but under anything goes situations. I know what came from him is the real ****ing deal. Randy Couture is the real deal. Fighters like Griffin, Carano, Belfort are all top tier. Fukcing hell, man you know as well as anyone that Couture, Henderson, and Lindland all used to train together on Team RAW. I hate to use a quote from Joe Rogan but iron sharpens iron and these guys are the best training with the best. Chute Boxe. Team Alliance. Greg Jackson's camp. The list goes on.
Yea I understand all that, and obviously good trainers make you a better fighter. But just because somebody is training with so and so doesn't mean they will become unbeatable. Lots of bad fighters come from good gyms as well. All I was saying was that Couture doesn't automatically heal bad habits, he just is a good trainer, not a guarantee to win, just like all the other good fighters. If he was, Trigg wouldn't have got flatlined tonight.
He did very well; but like I said, I didn't really insult him or call him a bad fighter, just thought it was more likely that Franklin would win. If Vitor can keep this form up he will do well, if he goes back to what he always goes back to he will end up with what he always ends up with.
