M8, that's exactly what I said... boxing allows too much space for refs and judges to influence the final score. I know only of handball where similar robberies occur at a world level.

    From IBF site ( http://www.ibf-usba-boxing.com/userfiles/File/IBF-USBA Bout Rules.pdf ):

    3. There will be a non-scoring referee and three judges who shall score the contest and
determine the winner through the use of the ten points must system. In this system the
winner of each round receives ten points and the opponent a proportionately less number.
When the round is even, each boxer will receive ten points.

And why were the people from Sauerland allowed to check the scorecards, but not the guy from the Karmazin-cam?

That was a STRANGE card of boxing.

You had Gbenga Oloukun getting at least one standing 8 count in almost every round as Oleg Platov repeatedly made him turn his back with body shots (protect yourself at all times!!! :fire).

Then you have Troy Ross coming on strong and seeming to seize the momentum from Steve Cunningham, only to have the opportunity seized away due to what looked to be developing into a nasty cut (of dubious origin - arguably from either a legal punch or unintentional foul).

THEN, you have Karmazin fighting his guts out, fading late, and going home with a draw where most everybody had him winning in what's probably his last-ever title shot.

Impossible. Germans get around too much. Everybody's at least .00001% German. Also Irish, Italian and Spanish. These people just go everywhere and screw, that's a scientific fact.

Did you watch the fight? I watched it and I honestly wouldn't know how to give this fight to Sylvester. I might manage a draw if I tried my very best.

(Also, the fightnews piece was written by one Karl Freitag, he might be rather more than 0% german.)

And over in Turkey you had another robbery. I wonder what tonight at Yankee Stadium will throw up for us?

I didn't know there was world-level handball.

The point is well taken, though. Scoring is subjective and anytime it goes to the cards you can't be too sure of what they're going to say, no matter how clear it may seem (unless it's nonstop knockdowns all the way, like in Platov-Oloukun).

Still, Karmazin appeared to do enough to win enough of the rounds to earn the belt. He won't get near one again, most likely. It's a shame.

    I removed all my German.

You ever see the scene in Total Recall, where Arnold sticks the thing up his nose?

    Yeah, it was like that.

    Only bloodier.

I'd just found the same thing. Maybe we should have 3 monkeys judge the fight by throwing feces at a dartboard, that would definitely be an improvement on the current system. Would be more entertaining too.

I stopped following it years ago... out of frustration! The refs were killing every big game... just incredible...

I guess not a big sport in the states... but take NBA for example!? It usually a high standard and the refs get judged as well. The best get the most important fights... but then again, we have only one NBA and several sanctioning bodies in Boxing.

fkn ****s , Roman's last chance , he did enough to win the belt . I wonder if they got the balls to fight Pirog , no robbery in this one when Sylvester gets knocked out or stopped on cuts .

True... missed that one... apparently the official ARD commentator had Karamazin a point ahead going into the 12th.

Away from home, bad wireless connection, so no boxing for me .. just rbr by several different sources...who also saw it differently.

**** it. Get rid of judges and implement "You fight until one of you stays down"
