Cunningham vs. Licina, Hernandez vs. Herelius, Abraham vs. Bozic RBR

Round 6

Licina comes charging out with an overhand right but Cunningham just leans into it with his forearms shielding his face and answers with a combination. Cunningham is really digging to the body now, boxing and moving on the outside but not backing up and in fact pushing Licina back a bit when he whips his flanks with underhand shots. Licina just lopes after him and throws very little, just probing jabs. Cunningham circles in different directions a few times, light on his toes and making Licina have to turn halfway around to keep squared up. Cunningham is taking a bit of a break, just blocking jabs and pot shotting from outside. Licina takes advantage and decides to be first, and pulls Cunningham into an exchange where Licina lands an overhand right. Cunningham reaches out and flurries after the ten seconds warning.

 

Round 7

Licina jabs to the body. Cunningham triple jabs while circling out. The referee screams very loudly for a "break" (even though they aren't clinching...). Then sends Cunningham to a neutral corner. Ah, that's it. Licina's glove had come untaped. His corner fixes it quickly. Cunningham comes right back at him with jab and uppercut combos on the inside. Licina is getting tagged with 1-2s as he backs Cunningham up, trying to get pumped up by the crowd but unable to land. They jab together and Cunningham misses a hook. Licina is landing a few shots as Cunningham overreaches with his jab. Licina is caught in a headlock coming forward. Cunningham clinches again and is booed. Licina applies more slow and steady pressure, and takes a jab to the gut. Licina leaps forward and lands a jab on the face. Cunningham backs him up with a quick lead right and Licina charges right back at him with a few hammer shots, landing a straight right hand but nearly flying through the ropes as he lurches off balance past Cunningham at the bell.

Round 8

Cunningham jabs and sticks his left shoulder out to block. He triple hooks at Licina on the turn. Licina jabs and Cunningham jerks away from it and flicks out his own short jab. Licina walks him down and lands a good upward lead right on the taller man. Cunningham gets very far outside and drops his hands to simply walk around Licina, catching his breath. Licina comes forward and punches his way into an exchange as Cunningham tries to back out. Uppercuts from Cunningham, just arm punches. Cunningham triple jabs and keeps retreating. Licina follows and smacks him with a looping right.

78-74 Cunningham

Round 9

Cunningham holds the left out like a stick to hold Licina off in between short flurries set up by the jab. Cunningham throws the 1-2 high and then spins his arms down to throw sickle shots to the body before backing out. Hard right hand from Cunningham as he steps forward and then gets back onto his carousel track. Licina is very ineffective, just probing with his jab and throwing badly telegraphed overhand rights while Cunningham spins him around in a slow plodding shuffle. Cunningham blocks a 1-2. Licina keeps working the right hand and lands a couple toward the end of the round. Cunningham pushes Licina into the ropes and flurries but they're all arm punches. Cunningham is breathing through his mouth a bit.

88-83 Cunningham

 

Round 10

Licina jabs hard and is met near the ropes by a forward-flurrying Cunningham. Licina is putting on his earmuffs as he pressures and deflecting some lead rights from Cunningham. Licina is getting outworked. Cunningham is landing just enough of his pot shot jabs and lead rights while circling outside. Licina shuffles his way inside and tries to surprise Cunningham by jumping in place with a high stiff jab. Licina lobs some low shots while Cunningham is flurrying on the move. Cunningham is turning to his right and presenting only his left shoulder as a target to Licina.

98-92 Cunningham

Round 11

Licina comes forward blocking shots and breaking formation to throw overhand rights. Both are winging uppercuts to the body on the inside. Cunningham isn't using the ring anymore, just standing in the phonebooth and peppering Licina with short drum-rolls up high. Licina keeps trying to line up a big 1-2 whenever Cunningham pulls out to mid-range but is too hurried and inaccurate. Cunningham lands a few body shots and clinches up. Cunningham tries to set up camp on the inside again and Licina whacks him with a hooking right to the jaw. Cunningham is hooked behind the ear as he continues pressing forward trying to get Licina to infight with him again.

Round 12

Cunningham jabs to the body. Cunningham is aggressive to start, shoeshining up high and peppering Licina's guard. Licina looks like he wants some distance as Cunningham keeps clapping away at the only exposed parts - his ears and top of his head - and tries to club Cunningham off of him with overhands. Both look tired and throw soft punches on the inside. Cunningham wrestles Licina into the ropes. The crowd boos. Licina follows Cunningham across the ring. Neither punches. Lead right from Cunningham blocked. Licina jabs and Cunningham just shoves him away. Licina ducks a slow Cunningham lead right. Cunningham then throws three more lead rights and lands them all - one to the body and two to the face. Cunningham flurries from too far away, just flashing his hands. Licina reaches up and slaps forward with a wild right hand but doesn't move his feet enough to get in range.

You'd think these guys just ran a marathon the way they look. :huh It wasn't a particularly strenuous fight, either.

 

Licina is raising his fist to the crowd like he thinks he won.
