He has not been in the ring since december 2007 and he is the IBF champ. Why is this guy so inactive? There are a few good options ouh there for me including Adamek, Herbie Hide, Macaroni, Arslan, Bell and Flores. Question for the S.Cunningham fans, are you worried by this?
That's the typical Don King BS that he pulls with some of his fighters, keeping them inactive for so long. I like Cunningham, so yeah, I'm worried about the inactivity. My understanding is his next bout will be with Adamek, which won't be an easy fight by any means. Almost a year away from the ring will certainly hurt.
Yes I am worried about it. USS isn't getting any younger he needs to stay active even if it's against a mando.
he has always struggled to get american tv air time. obviously the only fights he is being offered are in europe , which is a shame for him that he cannot make any money at home. and its not as if don king has the excuse he is busy with the heavy`s anymore . in fact don king seems to be losing his influence in boxing /DLH is making huge strides. king usually only wants tried and tested fighters as well and rarely brings up prospects preffering to hijack them of rival promoters.
He might have been waiting for Haye to finally ditch the cruiserweight belts... And then pick the mandatory for one of the belts. But either way, way, I wish he would be staying more active.
I think it is tough, because pretty much the six other best fighters in the division have gone chasing the belts vacated by David Haye - probably the IBF are still trying to figure out who his mando is, because everyone seems to have gone scurrying for the trinkets. Perhaps Cunningham might have been better vacating himself as well, that way he would get a shot at a vacant title against a decent opponent rather than remaining inactive. Cruiserweight is such a difficult division - because it's not as if you can take a ten round tune up against a lighter/heavier guy, because of the likely difference is size either way. Herbie Hide would have been a decent name for him, two time Warren Boxing Organisation heavyweight 'champ' - who is probably past his peak and has........ erm....... no chin
