Prime Ibeabuchi is beatable, but I don't think current Povetkin is the guy to do it.
Ask again in a few years...

It depends when they meet. I do think Povetkin UD's Ike when both guys had less than 10 fights, but I will go with Ike as a finsihed productover Povetkin.

IMO, Povetkin is a lot better than he showed vs Chambers.

Povetkin is crude one dimensional puncher with a decent workrate, power, and stamina...No solid jab, defense, movement....he's very sloppy and can't put punches together for ****, can't counter for **** either.... Povetkin gets mangled by Ike and any current top heavy

Well I can see this fight going one of two ways. If Povetkin and Ike were to stand in the middle of the ring and brawl tactically I would favor Ike, I just think his greater strength and Povetkin's own propensity to swell would be huge problems for the young Russian. Now if one looks at his fight versus Donald and considers that Ike fought with one foot in the bucket ala Liston, then the argument can be made that Povetkin, if he adopts a stick and move strategy, with his hand speed and mobility can box his way to a decision.

I think Ike's big problem against guys like Lewis and Wlad is that he does fight with one fight in the bucket, he just isn't that mobile, and while it was one thing to break down Byrd's body, it is another thing to cross the real estate that exists between the end of Lewis or Wlad's jab and their body.

Here is an interesting one, and I know everyone thinks he is crude and unskilled, but Valuev vs. Ike. Valuev can double up on the jab, has consistently shown around 50% accuracy or higher on his punches, and is incredibly durable.

Fair assessement. I think Lewis would've beaten Ibeabuchi for the same reason.

Ike is one scary mother****er though. Style-wise, Povetkin is perfect for him. He can match Alex's high workrate and won't have to be looking for him. We'll have to see how well Povetkin's chin turns out to be, untill then i think it goes to the scorecards in favor of the Nigerian.

Ibeabuchi didn't have **** for a jab, has slow handspeed, and left himself open to get hit nearly every time he threw from the outside. Povetkin would have a field day countering him just by staying on the outside and waiting for him to wind up another winging shot.

While you could say Ike was nearly a prototype on paper for an inside swarmer (Great chin and stamina, very good power), he wasn't an all-around great fighter. The best thing that ever happened for his legacy was that he was out of boxing before he was able to get exposed. We never got to see how he'd do against any decent fighter taller than 6'.

Was Crazy Ike a good fighter? hell yes. Was he great? we will never know. some are making him out to be a bigger tyson :nut

look he has 2 good wins against byrd and tua. he went life and death with tua. i had him winning by a pt or 2.

my question is, how would he do against a big man who can move and show him angles. he looked great with byrd and tua cause they stood right in front of him. But Wlad or Lennox would move and jab his face off. how would his stamina hold up if he had to chase and not be allowed to punch at a stationary target?

i see him comparable to peter. better boxer and skills, similar power, similar chin, more patient, less aggressive. lennox would clown this fool. he made tua looks like an amateur and he would do the same here. ditto Wlad but ike has a decent puncher's chance. but late tko or wide decision for both lennox and wlad. vitali would feast on this guy and stop him late. vit would let him walk straight into his power and use that awkard lean back style to avoid a lot of punishment. late 90s holyfield would be a war. tyson is always interesting. he can beat everyone else the last 10 years or so.

as for povetkin. crazy ike by cuts/swelling midrounds. povetkin looks too hittable and didnt walk through chambers' early fire.

Ike was too strong, too fast, too tough, and way too crazy for Povetkin to handle.

I have seen Ibeabucci fight flat, so anything could happen, but what about real fights?

    Ike by nasty ko.

I like Povetkin as the heir to the heavyweight throne, but being realistic Ike was the right size and power and determination to put Povetkin out.

He caught the Byrd and stood toe to to with the Tuaman. I mean, it doesn't get any better than that. Holyfield, Lewis and others all slept a bit better when that madman went to prison. He would have flattened most anyone put in his path.

The rest of us missed the next great heavyweight. A true shame and a decade of great heavyweight excitement lost.

People seem to forget he barely beat Tua and the cards were very close in the Byrd fight prior to the stoppage. I like Ike, I like him a whole lot more than Sam Peter who people in certain networks are trying to tell us is the next Ike, but let's not get carried away he wasn't unbeatable.

I don't think any of the present heavies can take IKE. If anyone can eat TUA bombs and come out on top is a very very good heavy. He brawled with David unlike Lewis.
