To me this is what makes a real champion, fighting other fighters who are expected to beat you, win or lose is more respectable than winning fights you are expected to win.

    The following need not apply.

    Floyd Mayweather
    Miguel Cotto

    Wladimir Klitschko
    David Haye
    Lucian Bute
    Arthur Abraham
    Joan Guzman
    Edwin Valero
    Jorge Linares
    Roberto Guerrero
    Steve Molitor
    Pongsaklek Wonjongkam

    :deal

Quintana is kind of an upset guy. He upset Julio and Williams.

I think it stuck out alot because in those fights ^ it was the other fighters time to shine. All the commentators were ignoring him until the fight started.

Its funny, other than for maybe Wonjongkam and Molitor, the guys with losses on their record from this list, their loss seems ever so sweet for their haters and continuingly gets brought up.

granted which is why I didnt include Calderon

all of the above fighters have had some oppourtunities thrown their way, with maybe the exception of Abraham.

no. Floyd would be favored against anyone in and around his division since he beat Corrales. He didn't have opportunities thrown his way.

IMO when you are favored to beat anyone, the way to become greater is to "beat the spead".

what that means is say you're favored to win at odds like 2/3, and you demolish your opponent like it should have been 1/7, then you improve your status.

Floyd did this against Hatton and Gatti. He didn't against Oscar and Judah.

Roy Jones was a good example of this. Beating guys who were supposed to challenge him as if they were nobodies.

Between 130-147, there was no one out there for Floyd to become an underdog against, but there are some at 154. Floyd cherrypicked an opponent that favored him the most and there were other opponents who would be favored glad to fight him at 154 unlike the lighter division elites declined to.

If Floyd never touched 154 then I cant blame him, but he did and now he fits the category.

    immediately after the Judah win?

Simms would of been favored Karmazin maybe since he was the man of the division at the time

I wouldn't include Valero on this as his medical and geographical situation has made it hard for him to get really into the mix at his weight.

Now he's on Top Rank I think there'll be some more challenges.

The odds for this fight was everywhere, ranged from 50/50 to a small lead for Margarito, Im sure I found atleast one betting site that had Williams favored.

I suppose ill edit out Williams then.
