Doesn't mean jack **** unless you watched the fights. This has more to do with the Ref than the fighter. A lot of fights are stopped before a guy would get a chance to give the fighter a 10 count, thus causing a TKO instead of a KO. Besides you can't count on Boxrec as to what was a real TKO and what was a real KO, as they are often listed incorrectly.

I agree, the quality of opponents matter as well.

I wouldn't say that it means "jack ****" though. It does highlight a general career trend though; even be it a weak one. The bigger punches do tend to generally have more KOs on there record.

In itself it certainly isn't to be taken as gospel and conclusive evidence as regards to a boxers power though.

Doesn't mean much - just better ref'ing than the old days - just because a guy can get back to his feet doesn't mean a fight should go on. Ask Enzo Marcarinelli - my man got up in the Haye fight and was on ***** street - went over to the ref and said "wanna go on my hot air balloon" or something. Good stoppage no need for a 10 count.

Guys like Oscar De La Hoya and Calzaghe impress me on their stoppage percentages, solely because of how many championship fights they've had, in Calzaghe's situation, over half of his professional fights have been for a championship.

I may be being paranoid, but I believe the whole point of this thread is to mock Calzaghe's power. Take a look at the other thread on this page by JonOli (I bumped it earlier) to see his agenda.

i resent that i had to put it into a excell document look up all the fighters again to add better fields that give a better picture including TKO's aswell as KO's.

It is very hard to get a KO these days a ref will call the fight off before the 10 count normally.

How is this relevant? Straight KO is so dependent on the referee and the quality of opponent that it's almost useless, because more experienced referees will generally stop the fight before it gets to the KO. One-punch KOs are rare, and this doesn't measure that. It seems obvious to me that the fighters who spent their early careers fighting in places with more tolerant referees and fewer decent low-level boxers would have higher KO percentages, and that's all this chart seems to prove.

From the top 18 (I've stopped at Pacman) how many of these are Pound for Pound top ten?

    David Haye 95.24%
    Kermit Cintron 93.10%
    Florante Condes 90.91%
    Kelly Pavlik 87.88%
    Shane Mosley 84.09%
    Vladimir Virchis 83.33%
    Carl Froch 82.61%
    Lucian Bute 81.82%
    Miguel Angel 81.25%
    Arthur Abraham 80.77%
    Juergen Braehmer 80.65%
    Nate Campbell 78.13%
    Librado Andrade 77.78%
    Sultan Ibragimov 77.27%
    Ulises Solis 76.92%
    Oscar De 76.92%
    Samuel Peter 76.67%
    Oleg Maskaev 76.47%

KO or TKO ratio and ability have absolutely nothing in common and prove zilch, interesting stats nonetheless but not suprisingly apart from one or two fighters they would be seen as up and coming fighters and not long serving campaigners.
