Donaire is a good shout but the way he is being managed no chance. I think its hard because at the moment because they fight so irregularly. IMO to be an ATG you need to beat alot of top world class opposition and continuously fight the best.

Ward for example has basically cleaned out SMW but how many future HOFers has he fought? IMO hed need to beat Bute and Dirrell (if he racks up a few good wins) then go up to LHW beat some top people there and then take on the new beasts at SMW a few years later when they're ready.

    Yep agree with you both.

He has the skills, just needs better management.

I honestly believe Andre Ward will be great. I think he'll beat Bute comfortably (should he beat Froch), and dominate up at 175. Doniare has all the makings. He should fight Gamboa and end that hype train sooner rather than later.

Broner will be soundly beaten soon. How he gets so much hype is beyond me!

My criteria is simple Mand. Domination. Ward, should be beat Bute, would have dominated the SMW division, pretty much beating everyone. If he goes up to 175 and does the same against Dawson, Pascal, Cloud etc, he could go down as an ATG. The lad hasn't lost since he was 12, and I cant see anyone beating him soon to be honest.

Doniare has been a champ from Fly to Bantam already, and could easily go up a few more IMO.

Rigo will go down as one of the best amateurs of all time

    Ouch.

  8. Realistically I think only Marquez, Pacquiao and Mayweather (sorry) are over the line.

If amateur boxing changes for the better we might see more top line fighters from the UK and America, otherwise we'll just see them from Mexico and from wherever a randomer like Pac pops up from.

Donaire although he needs a good few more big wins under his belt.

Other than pacman, ward is a possibility, think Gambia could do it with the right challenges, wish he'd fought Rios, if he could fight and beat donaire that would be good, that fight would be great for both.

In terms of prospects, gavin could do it imo, I like the look of sillakh but not sure if he's at worthy

  13. I can't see Frankie ever amounting to much as a pro I'm afraid.

I've met him, he's a great lad with ridiculous ability, but his pro career has been car crash stuff unfortunately.

Signing with Allegedly practically prevents any British fighter from becoming great I'm afraid.

So really cos we lack many great fighters it's stopping the new crop from becoming great?.

Vano nice post, Domination is one criteria listed so far, I like to see variation in a resume in terms of styles boxed and won against.

Resume is a difficult one. When ranking fighters, that is the first thing I look at. But today, I honestly believe the talent has dropped that much that other factors (ie domination) needs to be examined in depth. The old days, you was a great if you beat a great and had a half decent run. Now, we haven't got many great fighters willing to fight each other to prove their greatness.

Also, the lack of fights is a massive problem. Top class fighters are now fighting once every 5-6 months, which is just too little. Mayweather, for instance, has had 42 fights in a 16 year career. Greb had 300 fights in 11 years! When you consider that the first 15-20 fights are development fights, fighters just aren't fighting top class opposition for that long in their career. This will bring them down in my estimates.

My top 10 as of today:
    1 Greb
    2 Robinson
    3 Armstrong
    4 Langford
    5 Charles
    6 Fitzsimmons
    7 Duran
    8 Louis
    9 Pep
    10 Ali

Can any modern day fighter crack that list? Not a chance in hell with the way boxing is at the minute!
