If mayweather traveled through time when malinaggi was at his peak and had a month to prepare for him.

I feel it would be a very boring but probably equal match

Prime Paulie would outwork the May that fought McGregor. Floyd looked TERRIBLE against McGregor. Slow, old, inactive, with trouble pulling the trigger... he was simply in with a total novice, thus he still won.

Prime Paulie was no great, but he could at least maintain an active workrate, and a solid jab, which would be enough to outwork the current Floyd.

I've never been high on Paulie but Mayweather looked pretty bad against Conor. He was getting hit with an amateur jab, granted he probably didn't train too hard. I know the Mayweather fans are going to get butt-hurt but I would favor prime Paulie over him right now. Probably a close fight.

What version of the Brooklyn Brawler would you consider prime Paulie?

The version that got his face rearranged by Cotto? The one who picked up the IBF strap Hatton smacked him about later for? I really don't know during which period people feel he was at his best.

I'd fancy over 50 fighters at the top of my head in their prime to beat this 40/41 year old Floyd... that's like saying prime David Price vs 50/60 year old Mike Tyson...

Let me start out by saying, this is neither a knock on Floyd or praise for Paulie. Floyd simply looked bad against Conor, who himself is an extremely inexperienced boxer.

I would considering Paulie's prime to be around 2012 because that is him fighting at Welterweight. I assume that is what the question was asking. He put a solid streak together after Khan and until Porter. I really just don't think Floyd at 41 is that good anymore. He would lose to most of the top Welterweights right now.

To be fair though, Floyd wasn't Floyd during the McGregor fight.. He tired him out then went for the KO.. If he fought anyone else like that, he'd be in trouble.. I doubt he would.. I doubt there's much difference from the Floyd who fought Berto than the one who fought McGregor for real...

How about the Floyd of the Gatti fight vs. Prime Malignaggi at 140?

Still Floyd but I do understand the "he did look like sh!t against McG" thing (which is true) and he is dirt old.

You guys are overestimating Paulie. He's never that good to begin with and this version of Floyd still embarrasses him.
