I think Gamboa will end up being better than Casamayor,in fact he might be already... But style wise i think Casamayor would have given him trouble... Gamboa seems to get a little erratic in the late rounds, and more prone to mistakes.. I think hes improving .. I really think the Salido fight was a learning experience, as welll as that other guy who went the distance.. But i think Casamayor had the Beard and slickness to make out of the early rounds,, And he also had underrated power, enough to get Gamboas attention or possibly score a kd later.... Gamboa would take an early lead,, Casamyor would come on in the mid rounds and maybe eveni it up... Going into the later rounds its anyones fight and i think thats where Casamayor gets this.... Casamayor by very close decision.... But ask me in a year or 2 and ill probably pick Gamboa,.

I also am very impressed with Gamboas explosiveness.... Pfp hes definitely the most explosive fighter in boxing.. However Casamayor has the perfect syle to not be overwhelmed by a speedy buzzsaw like Gamboa... Well schooled, very experienced, good chin, and pretty quick himself, to go along with enough power to keep Gamboa honest.

Great analysis! Casamayor was very underrated when he was in his Prime. He fought in the Mayweather, Corrales era and was overshadowed by them until he defeated Corrales.

Casa was a great technician, better than Gamboa in the technical department but Gamboa is just so much more athletic, faster and more powerful than him! It would had been a great matchup for sure, possibly both of them visiting the canvas!

Totally agree mi amigo. Casamayor was " razor sharp " with his punches while Gamboa has to throw many in order to land some but when he lands they are devastating. Casamayor in his Prime was incredible to watch as many experts said, " he dissected " his opponents with razor like accuracy. I wish I can find the Casamayor VS Robert Garcia fight, man, he dissected Garcia and Garcia was one tough customer! :good

At this stage I'd put my money on Casamayor...

But Gamboa's still a pup, only time will tell if he surpasses Casa...

I wish Franco all the best but Gamboa is 3 floors above him in every department except Chin where Franco really exceeds.

Now, Gamboa VS Rigondeaux is the real-deal !!!

I don't think that we will ever get to see JuanMa-Gamboa as Lopez has lost much of his respect, fame and his undefeated record. Plus, there is no guarantee that he can do better in his rematch with Salido, in fact I think that Salido is going to repeat. :hey

Rigo on the other hand, most likely will jump to 126 after he wins a Major Title at 122 but by that time Gamboa will be at 130 or possibly 135...
