1. Joshua 2. Wilder 3. Whyte 4. Povetkin 5. Ortiz 6. Parker 7. Miller 8. Chisora 9. Breazeale 10. Any of about 10 guys. Reasons Active Tyson Fury would be number 2. Whyte has better recent wins than Povetkin. Ortiz is only 5th (He should be lower) because Parker has 2 defeats.....And to justify Wilder's position as number 2. Chisora gets 8th as Takam is a better win than anyone has outside the top 6.
Usyk has weighed in heavier for his first 15 pro fights than what Cassius Clay did for his first 15. After 15 pro fights, Cassius was the no.2 contender for the heavyweight championship of the world held by Sonny Liston. The no.1 contender was Floyd Patterson, the former champ, who weighed even less. Not suggesting Usyk is in the same class as Cassius but spare me the nonsense about Usyk's weight. Usyk also has good wins against big heavies like Joe Joyce & Junior Fa post winning his Olympic gold medal. Usyk's Olympic gold medal was won at heavyweight. Haye was shot, but Bellew pulled the trigger.
So what would you rate as Usyk’s best win as a pro heavyweight? And you don’t think there’s people below Bellew in your list with a better win than a shot Haye at HW?
@Sandman_ The World of Boxing knew Haye was shot.....And twice they still thought he would beat Bellew. Bellew is above Usyk in the HW rankings as he has two wins over a HW.
It's not just a matter of "best wins". It's also a subjective assessment of a fighter's ability. Clearly, Usyk is right up there. All his wins have been at heavyweight as far as I'm concerned. What's his best? Gassiev, last start. I'd take Bellew over Parker if they were to fight next. He's coming off two impressive kayo wins, Parker is coming off two losses. Bellew deserves his spot until someone ousts him.
"Subjective assessment of a fighter's ability." That sounds more like fantasy P4P to me. Wins, and the level of opposition you win against, is a far better judgement that trying to make a 'Subjective assessment'. Ortiz's 'Bogeyman' status, and even being in the Top 10, is based on KO'ing Jennings.....Yet people ignore his failed test, and his inability to put a serious dent in Scott who was KO'd as embarassingly against Wilder as Price was against Teper.
1. Anthony Joshua 2. Deontay Wilder 3. Dillian Whyte 4. Tyson Fury 5. Luis Ortiz 6. Joseph Parker 7. Hughie Fury 8. Alexander Povetkin 9. Kubrat Pulev 10. Dominic Brezeale If Tyson Fury was to get back fully fit and ready then he'd go to number 1
I mostly agree. But I'd rank Chisora ahead of Hughie and Kownacki ahead of Ruiz for the same reason I rank Sasha ahead of Ortiz. They have the better resume even though I think the other would probably win h2h. My (much looser, more flexible than my top ten) ranking would be: 11. Takam 12. Kownacki 13. Jennings 14. Washington 15. Ruiz 16. Kabayel 17. Hughie 18. Bellew 19. Duhapaus 20. Charr 21. Wach 22. Spilzka 23. Mansour 24. Ustinov 25. Dimitrenko But really after you can make an argument for most any numbering after the first dozen or so. I noticed I tend to rank people lower or just leave off entirely people who are still at or near prospect stage compared to other posters. Unless someone has gotten a top 30 win, or at least a bunch of top 60 wins, I just don't think they have earned a top 25 ranking. I'm sure one or two of the prospects that people are already ranking as a top HW are going to flame out in a David price like manner.
How is Ortiz above Whyte? Ortiz KO'd Jennings when on gear..... Whyte beat Parker, who's superior to Jennings, and Browne/Helenius who are better wins than Scott/Allen.
Fantasy is believing Dillian Whyte is the third best heavyweight in the world. More like third-rate trailer trash.
If Jennings beats Dimitrenko and still looks good, I'd probably favor him over the Parker coming off of two losses.
I don't think that's really fair. Parker destroyed Dimitrenko, and is fighting better now than he was then. There is a big difference in levels there - I am not hugely stoked with his performance against Whyte, but Whyte has a shitload of life in him compared to Dimitrenko.
