I understand the poin that you're trying to make its just that your conclusion is wrong. Mayweather at 130, was faster, and let his hands go more. He would likely have stopped Marquez.

Agree. I do think Divac is on to something, though. The point to me is that Mayweather vs. Marquez has to be a PfP discussion, just as Mayweather vs. Duran has to be a PfP discussion. You can't analyze those fighters head to head in absolute terms, because the size difference is meaningful.

Again, I do think the ability to fight at a lower or upper range of weight is part of talent, but you have to account for it a little differently. I think you can say Floyd's ability to fight down and come up — just like Pacquaio, ODLH and others — makes him a better overall fighter than someone who can't, like Marquez.

But **head to head**, some fighters are very good at a certain class and simply can't leave that realm. At welterweight, Mayweather vs. Marquez was a physical mismatch that doesn't tell you much about how they'd square off at 130.

Just as Duran would destroy Mayweather at 160 doesn't mean it tells you anything about how that fight would go at 135.

(And I think you could make a case that Mayweather is superior to Marquez even equalizing size, same as you can make the case that Duran is superior to Mayweather equalizing size.)

This would be cruel to watch. Floyd would get ****ing owned, embarrassed, beat up, hurt, mentally broke, and sent crumbling into retirement. Not a fair fight.

Funny you say that because JMM is a small Light Weight. The only reason he won his fight over bigger stronger men at LW, was because of his skills, & when he moved up to Light weight was to chase Pacquiao not because of weight problems like Mayweather's moving up in weight classes....he has been chasing PAC since his featherweight days... those two are the perfect match.

Another funny thing is JMM at 36 was past his best and he still moved up and had 0 advantages, and the only advantage Mayweather wanted to give JMM he paid money not to give it to him... LMAO ***** is *****, no credit EVER..

Perfect analogy with RJJ 160 VS Prime Mayweather 147 and to rate the BS win Mayweather had on JMM is irrelevant it will never mean anything to anyone but his dick riding fans.

Mayweather fans now claim that Mayweather's victory over Marquez was the result of skill and class difference.

......my rebuttal to them was that Mayweather's victory was more the result of physical advantages in favor of Mayweather.

Duran would be a bad parralled because Duran would not hold a height, reach, quickness, speed advantage over Mayweather. Hell, Duran may very well not even have held a strenghth advantage either.

May rebuttal to Mayweather fans is to say to them that if it was sheer skill that beat Marquez, then Mayweather under similar circumstances that Marquez was under should win out.
Personally I believe Mayweather has vastly better boxing skills than RJJ, but that does'nt always win out when other factors are overwhelmingly not in his favor.

To parrallel Marquez vs Mayweather, you'd have to match the current Mayweather with a middleweight who has a height, reach, weight, quickness, and speed advantage.

I think most Mayweather fans would say that Mayweather has better boxing skill than does Roy Jr. and if that is so, under their way of arguing Mayweather's outclassing Marquez, there would be no reason then to have Mayweather with his better skills outclass a middleweight who holds the physical advantages he had against Marquez.

Nonsense, Pacquiao was a blurr as well and Marquez did great.
In fact, I believe the more offensive Mayeather is, the better Marquez' chances are, thus imo he would do better against a Mayweather who let his hands go.

At 147 lb in their actual fight, Marquez after getting stunned by Mayweather's shots would signal to Mayweather to bring it on, but Mayweather would'nt bite.
The reason Mayweather would not bite is because he knew that by picking up a notch vs Marquez would be to give him an entrance to the fight.

  13. Initially I was appalled when i spotted this thread. Didn't even bother polling it. But after a wee read through I see that this was a man with a plan, a mission, a journey.
    Still stupid though :)

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

I think most would agree that purely boxistically speaking Mayweather has better skills than RJJ.
If skills pays the bills as Mayweather and his cronies like to say, why would'nt those skills do it vs RJJ?

When the shoe is on the other foot, the hardest core of Mayweather fans stay away from threads like this.:yep
