Those two are probably the best two, Margarito is pretty decent as well.

 

i didn't see no body punching from cotto in his last fight...but other fights look good but margarito i think is the best currently

hatton was a great body puncher in his early days and of course his knockout over castillo yet he totally abandoned it and went head hunting against mayweather, similar to cotto against margarito.

 

Hatton or Margarito. Hatton didn't go to the body enough in his last fight though, however the Castillo bodyshot KO was one of my favorite KO's

 

Dawson deserves a mention

 

The p4p best body puncher is Fernando Montiel ... Hatton didn't go to the body against Mayweather and Cotto abandon to go to the body against Margarito.

Nothing I remember. Do you remember something different?

 

He went for a few against Mayweather but.....

1. Floyd was defending brilliantly
2. He was smothering his work
3. His most lethal shots (mid range) were being countered by an assortment of potshots, elbows and forearms

He also went to the body loads against Lazcano and landed a few but Juan managed to get his elbows down just in time on a few occasions when he was ready to be taken out.

I would say he has actually improved as he has got older, because he has to do more to get the shots off, work an opening - in his earlier days he would just whack them with a left hook, then the well disguised straight right and finally whack them with both hands to the body. But now the opponents are better and he is still finding ways to get them off.

Mayweather said before the fight that he didn't know too much about Ricky Hatton. Total bollocks. He had been watching the videos and realising that he likes to step to the left to fire in the mid range shot - therefore by stepping himself to the right he could force Ricky to smother, or left to get out of range.

He was also well prepared for the straight right and left to the head - the right is disguised but the left can be telegraphed.

 

Calzaghe isn't a body puncher really, simply a great inside fighter.
