this guy is telling us about P4P and he does not even know Mike Tyson was #1 for a while? Not to mention several other Heavyweights have been ranked also. What is so funny is half the idiots talking about P4P don't even know what the hell it is.
not only that but like... people have izzy vasquez up there? like cmon... anyone with cotto/izzy/caberlero/darchinian/marquez/or anyone else above pwilliams or doesnt have pwilliams in the list at all is one of 2 things - a pw HATER! - or someone who really dislikes pwill but has to be honest with himself... so he puts pw above him but makes up some bulll**** as to why he doesnt deserve to be top 5-7
Like I said Paul Williams is the ONLY guy that is actually PROVING his P4P status in the ring. What a novel concept huh? All the while fighters like Pac are forcing people into "catch weight" fights because they are scared to fight at a weight classes limit. It is disgraceful.
Or they could just have a difference of opinion. That's what's so funny, people getting worked up over a subjective list whos definition has been completely bungled and botched in the last 10-20 years.
opinions are fine. It is what the forum is for. But many people that constantly post about the mythical P4P list(s) have ZERO freakin clue what it is. It is hilarious.
i would love to see him against Martinez, or Forrest or Pavlik. But the 147 fights is what I want the most.
thats why I asked the guy. I love how guys change or make up rules so they exclude any boxer they wantnut
exactly... p4p= pound for pound stringing several impressive wins in a row.. resulting in a hotsreak or proving your actual "pound for pound" ability by fighting in weight classes that are not natural to you and pacman deserves to be on top of the list for right now... he is the hottest fighter in the game and actually hopped around... im not going to get into the argument of if the guys he fought were bums or not but he still went up from his normal comfort zone bhop - jmm - pacman im 100% fine with being above pwill shane... im kind of iffy on it but its shane and he's earned his respect so its fine... cotto-vic d - any hw- izzy vasquez - raf mar- anyone who has fought their first & last fights at the same weight -ABSOLUTELY! has no business being above pwill... none of them are "hot fighters" at the current moment & none of them have proved their p4p ability as opposed to paul who is extremely hot and fought in 3 different weight classes in his past 4 fights.. only person who has done that at such a high level is pacman a difference in opinion is 100% fine but atleast respect the term of p4p... the list is definitely subjective but the term "pound for pound/p4p" has a definite & clear definition which needs to be respected.... and i havent seen the list be so ****edup as too the treatment of pw its either for fighters who are SUPER HOT and string togehter big wins OR prove that they can fight at multiple weights (prove by doing) outside of jmm-pacman-bhop & maybe shane.. has done this as well as pw... PERIOD!
Is fighting a guy smaller than you any worse than fighting old guys who are weight drained and shot chmpions?
The term came into effect during Robinson's era. He coined it. But if you want the simplest of interpretations, just watch Raging Bull. During the whole "Hey Joey...I got small hands." He went on this small diatribe about how he thinks he's the best, but Joe Louis (A heavyweight) gets to walk around calling himself the best because he's the HEAVYWEIGHT champ of the world. And Jake was merely only a MW. He went on to claim he was better than him, but he'll never be able to prove it because "he has small hands." Heavyweights are SUPPOSED to be the biggest and most "skilled" considering your fighting fighters with the most power and biggest size. Hence THE TERM POUND FOR POUND. Meaning. That the particular fighter who IS POUND FOR POUND the best suggests that if he were bigger in size, his skill would surely be able to carry him to victory against the Heavyweight Champion. The REAL misconception of pound for pound is this idea of being able to carry skill above your best fighting weight. This IS NOT what pound for pound means. This is merely a reflection or proof of the main purpose of pound for pound which is that had that particular pound for pound fighter been bigger he would've been able to defeat "the best fighter" (which is supposed to be the Heavyweight champ).
Well your ****ing up the ****in' idea of pound for pound. Sure Paul Williams may have proven a stronger case to be pound for pound legit because he hops different weight classes and ****, but he hasn't fought **** at his NATURAL weight (which is debateable as to what that ****in' class is). I'll say he's a huge WW and a perfect JMW and a skinny but still farely large MW. But not in a single class of any of these has he fought someone worth note. It can be argued that Cotto, Darchinyan, and so on can move up a weight class and beat a shot veteran or a soft opponent and so forth and all of a sudden they have "real pound for pound status." Im not doubting Paul's potential. Im just saying. Boxing isnt done through skeptical debate but in the ring. Cotto can very well be ahead of Paul because he's fighting all the top contenders and beat them all aside from Margarito. He proves a strong case because again...going back to the REAL definition of pound for pound, had Cotto been bigger he might very well be able to defeat Wladimir Klitschko with his skillset. Paul Williams proves this point because he hops up and down weight classes defeating seemingly bigger men and showcasing his skill above his natural weight, demonstrating or proving that had he been bigger he would be able to defeat the heavyweight champ. But being lineal champ or owning the **** out of a division proves that had that particular boxer being king of his division been bigger his skill would surely carry him to victory against the heavyweight champ... STILL LOST?!
Because the original term or definition of pound for pound has gotten lost over the years and its become so ****in' popular that the meaning has been diluted and corroded into this ****. BUT ATG and P4P can be two seperate lists. ATG is a display of opposition and resume and performance and so forth. P4P is an sorta updated and ongoing and everchanging ATG list that EXCLUDES HEAVYWEIGHTS! (or should anyway...)
